Hey,

I checked the FCC ID against the db, and it shows the v8 router. So its the same broadcom as v8. Apparently the thing they changed (according to myopenrouter) is that the memory is half....So it should be 8/2 instead of 16/4.

Cheers.

do I need a special build or just download the latest micro? I'm not afraid to brick this thing.

[EDIT]: I don't see where I can download rc7 from the main page. Could you point me in the right direction?

the only rc7s I can find are in this directory
http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/others/eko/RC7-9396
but I'm hesitant to use them since it seems I need a Serial Flash build to get this to work. Is there a micro build with serial flash support out there?

dd-wrt.v24-9396_NEWD-SF_micro.bin is available under my RC7-9396
It is generic file. Maybe your netgear need .chk with some header added?

I can't tftp it so I'm gonna need a chk file. Any hints on how to accomplish this?

I installed DD-WRT on my WGR614v8 using this file

http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/download.php?id=4394

then upgraded to the latest 9396 using this file

http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/others/eko/RC7-9396/dd-wrt.v24-9396_NEWD-SF_micro.bin

So as long as you can get an older version as a .chk file, you can upgrade to the latest version afterwards (2 step deal).

Everything works, except radio, but what a range of features!!!! WOW!

My WGR614 is not my main router, so if I can help development in any way, let me know. I'd love to get the wireless working. Also noticed it detects 16 MB of RAM but it's supposed to have 8MB only?!

Like said, let me know if I can be of any help!!
