Hi everyone,

I've got a modem/wifi but the wifi signal is too low, and my internet connection is really unstable, so i'm trying to use my WRT54GL 1.1 as a repeater for the signal.

Like this : MODEM/WIFI ======= WRT54GL ======= COMPUTER

My modem/wifi do not handle WDS, and i guess that the real problem !!!

Is that possible to repeat it with the dd-wrt, or with an another firmware..?

Thaks for your support,

Gary

have you tried to use better wifi antenas?
may be you could connect your wrt to the modem, and plug an external antenna on both side (wrt and computer)

why dont you connect the modem/wifi--wired--the router )))wireless))) computer
all your computers connected to the wrt54gl instead of having trouble in setting it as repeater and all

this is actually what i'd set, but the router signal is too low even if i set to 251 mw.

dd-wrt fw "makers" recommends 28mW to 70mW right... just set it to 70mW before you'll bricked your router... now, i guess your setup is already good, as what you've said... do you use a wired computer or all your computers are wireless? if you only got wireless computers... then you can relocate the router somewhere in the middle of the location... ethernet cable can run upto 100m without degradation of signal... elevate the router... maybe near the ceiling... elevating it may improve the signal...
