Successfully Overclock my Broadcom BCM5352 : 250Mhz

Hei... i just managed to overclock my router CPU. Broadcom BCM5352 from default clock 200MHz to 250MHz. This was done on my backup router Linksys WAP-54G Ver. 3.1

Just want to share my overclock. Sorry if it bother you... Not as overclockable as Intel 45nm or AMD B3 Phenom 3850... hehe.. sorry

the ultimate question: did you see any big change that worth clocking 125% your normal speed ?

Well... i used to overclock my Processor.. AMD 64 or Intel Core 2 duo. so higher clock always benefit me...

I hope you put a heat sink on the CPU...250MHz will get REALLY hot.

I had one of my wrt54g-tm routers running at 250Mhz (w/heat sick) for about 2-3 weeks and then it stopped. Read, bricked hard. It required a jtag erase and flashing to recover. As for the performance it wasn't really worth it so now all my routers run at default CPU speed.

Yeah, well, I highly doubt the cpu speed of you router could be a bottleneck for your network activities...

An on the other side of the spectrum... I've had three routers overclocked to 250mhz without any additional cooling for over a year with no ill effects. So it probably depends on the environment as well as the individual hardware.
