I created a shared folder on my PC called 'cifs' and set the appropriate permissions (i think).

and I try mounting it with

mount.cifs //192.168.69.100/cifs /tmp/smbshare -o user=Joebob,pass=password

It returns error "mount error 22 = invalid argument"

and when i check dmesg it says

CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -5
CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -5

any input would be appreciated. thanks.

What router and version? What firmware version and type (voip, std, etc.).

Try mounting it from the GUI. There are some issues mounting it from the command line for some reason.

ok so i havea wrt350n with usb..mine is a v1...

i have spent the last hour trying to figure out how to add a hard drive to this router...
first I was attempting to do it thru jffs2.. then somehwere it tells me to try thru cfis.. so i try both...

i'm completely lost.. and feeling like i am too n00b to handle this mod.. although the linksys fw totally sucks at managing the hdd since it only supports fat32.... please reply or msg me on aim: vvv21

user/pass needs to be written and pulled from nvram.

See my tutorial:
(the part where it says "Note: If using CIFS...")
