Hi, to all.
I'm a newbie of wireless world. I've buyed a router Linksys WRT54GP2A-AT for the 2 phone ports. I don't knew that the phone ports are blocked from the isp AT&T. I ask to this forum if I can upload a DD-WRT firmware on my machine. In case of positive, can someone tell me the exactly firmware and how I do to make the operation. I explain the chips on board of my router:
processor INTEL IXP425
chipset ADM6996L
sdram 2x16 MB (32MB) EtronTech EM639165TS-7
Thanks.
this is a INTEL IXP based device. general support is possible but non of the additional features will work (phone ports). but we have milkfish a sip gateway/PBX onboard.
the device is not supported unitl Brainslyer has one device on his desk.
This box also has a history of being extremely unstable. I acquired 2 of them for $20US each, and after only one day, discarded them. They were unusable for internet service due to random reboots (every 10-30min) and the phone ports could not have ring-ping disabled. Therefore, the connected phones would ring each time the machine rebooted. I was unable to find a solution to this, but on initial inspection, it appeared to be a hardware issue.
I used the machine for 1 month, and it don't give me problems, with routing work. But it have a very small wireless signal: 4/5 metres far it gives me 60/70% wireless signal. The support says that there is an incompatibility hardware for fine working in Europe. I don't know if this is true! For this reason I want to try to change firmware if this solved the wireless problems too.
Sorry but my english is a disaster!!
if there were only 20$ why didnt you send one to sebastian for porting? junge...*g*
This was about a year or two ago, and at that point, I had not found reason to use DD-WRT. If someone is in the USA, check Circuit City. They were the company that had this deal, likely because they were trying to get rid of the boxes. The supply is likely exhausted by now, but it is still worth a try.
