WRT1200AC
I read an article on how to switch partitions but I cannot remember how nor can I remember where I saw it. I should have screen printed it, I know, but I didn't. Seems like something about turning it on, then off when the first light comes on and do this 3 times? Does this sound right?
Anyway, any help would be most appreciated.
Oh, the DDWRT is corrupt so I'm trying to see what is on the other partition so maybe I can save the router.

First, my speed from my ISP dropped from 250 to 100. I called and they sent a technician out.
His router showed 260. I reset my router and then it would come on but I could not connect via lan or wifi. I had a spare WRT1200 so I put it on and speed was 260. I apologized to the tech and he went on his way. I then wanted to see if I could figure out why. I connected it to my laptop via lan and I could not make connection to the router. I did a ping and it returned. I did a ipconfig and it showed the router had assigned my laptop an IP. I used my phone to see if it was broadcasting an SSID and it was but could not connect via WiFi. I reset it half dozen times but never able to connect via browser. Tried Firefox, Chrome and Edge. Nothing. I though maybe the factory firmware might not corrupted on the other partition but I could not remember exactly how to switch.
And thank you very much for the link! That is the exact posting I read some time ago. I bookmarked it and printed it to pdf.
p.s. I'll be 81 my next birthday so forgive me if my old mind is not as sharp as it once was. I tried to telnet with Putty but got a Connection refused reply.

That's interesting. If it was reset properly, you should be able to navigate to http://192.168.1.1 and do it. Are you sure the browser isn't defaulting to https?
Now this is weird!
I pulled it out of the brick pile, connected it to my laptop, made sure my browser was directed to http://192.168.1.1 and it came right up into the stock firmware!
I did notice that when I first opened the browser, it automatically filled in https. So, I guess that was a major part of my problem with this particular router all along.
That is good to know because I have never in all the years I have been playing with Linksys routers ever had an issue like this. I always just typed in 192.168.1.1 for the initial setup. I just now logged into all my other routers scattered about the property by clicking a bookmarked link in my browser. All the bookmarks directed the browser to http://.
So I wonder where the DDWRT is that I flashed to this router? On the other partition?
I'm going to leave it like it is, set up the factory firmware as a backup to my main router, put a piece of masking tape on the top, label it as Main Backup No 2 ??? and put it away!
I ordered a refurb WRT1900AC due here today. I'll flash DDWRT to it and set it up as a main router backup also. OR maybe make it my main router and label the present one as Main Backup No 1.
In any event, Thank you very much for all the help. I really, sincerely do appreciate it!
Well, that was a colossal failure. Just a few seconds after the flash started, it gave a failure message and would not connect. I reset it and it came back as stock so I'm leaving it alone. Apparently this DDWRT install don't like me.
