Update method: SSH / CLI using PuTTY
Router/Version: Linksys MX8500
Issues/Errors: Issues, rolling back to 62966
The issue with inoperative 5GHz radio persists. Also, no IPv6 service even after restarting dhcp6c. DNSMasq seemed unstable also. I lost DNS service after about 15 minutes and had to restart dnsmaq and smartdns.

Have you tried this release after a full reset? @BrainSlayer has this router. He can certainly test it first hand if he has time. If I get time tomorrow I will dig mine out and test this release. I never put mine into service because DD-WRT just did not feel very solid on it and I do not like or really need 6ghz. Yea, I know, it falls under "640K ought to be enough for anybody" statement.
I have not updated it since last summer whenever I took on other projects but it was pretty solid then, just not solid enough to replace a good gateway router (EA8500).
All my routers have been up for months without issues, and I have many. Most are running r61711 std (06/08/25) _________________ - Linksys EA8500: I-Gateway, WAP/VAP 5ghz only. Features: VLANs, Samba, WG, Entware - r60xxx

Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r63391 std (01/17/26) (prev. DD-WRT v3.0-r62966 std (12/06/25))
Kernel: Linux 6.6.121-rc1-rt29 #5010 SMP Sat Jan 17 15:05:05 +07 2026 aarch64
Mode: Gateway, SFE disabled, 2.4G (20MHz mixed, WPA2 Personal, WPA3 Personal / SAE - CCMP-128 (AES)) and 5G (80MHz AX / AC / N Mixed, WPA3 Personal / SAE - CCMP-128 (AES)) wifi, bridged VAP on 2.4GHz, Wireguard for external access, WAN disabled, Keep Alive reboot 6:02 in the morning, using my own local NTP
Reset: No
Status: Borked, 5GHz Wireless "WLAN0" still missing. WLAN1 and 1.1 are there, but WLAN0 is missing, its SSID does not show up on any device. Also no blind connect possible without SSID. Router states it to be up and running, even transmitting packets. WLAN 0 temperature in router status page gives -255.0 °C.
Last build with functioning wlan0 is r62966 (12/06/25).

could you please also check if ports 1 and 4 are getting IP and active when connected? _________________ Linksys MX8500
My XR500 says 63390 after the upgrade ...
You also made a previous post about your XR500. Is there now actually a build 63391 for the XR500, too?
Easyddup shows 63391, the same as yesterday when I did the upgrade.

No, and unless I get time this pm I don't plan to. From the reports in this thread, I don't think I am the only one with issues. Now, if BS reports that the MX8500 works properly for him, I'll plan the time to do the factory reset and manual config. I just did that in November and don't want to again unless that is the only solution. _________________ Linksys MX8500 DD-WRT v3.0-r62966 std (12/06/25)

I'm facing the same issues on my MX8500: missing 5Ghz wifi and lan ports 1-4 are not active and not getting an IP.

I was able to test. NVRAM erase, NVRAM save, and then flash with 1/17/26. Router hung and I had to power cycle it. DDWRT came up. I had to change the connection type from Disabled to Automatic. All Ethernet ports were active and were assigned IPs. No 5GHz radio. 2.4GHz radio worked normally. I changed the WiFi settings to match what my devices expected and the 2.4GHz devices connected.
I then tried to flash back to 12/06/2025 (with reset to factory) and again the router hung. Power cycling it brought back 1/17/2026 but with nvram erased. I flashed 12/06/2025 again (with reset to factory) and it hung. Power cycling brought up 12/06/2025. I then did my nvram restore and my system came back as expected. Radios working as usual. _________________ Linksys MX8500 DD-WRT v3.0-r62966 std (12/06/25)
