Router Model 3x MX4300 and gateway, wap/vap and switch, 3x as mesh wap providers
Firmware Version DD-WRT v3.0-r63020 std (12/10/25)
update: GUI
reset: NO
mode: Gateway, WAP,VAP, dhcp server, wireguard server and nordvpn (via OpenVPN) client
Very strange symptom went on with this one. 3 are running in mesh mode normally...one was offline for other reasons..anyway everything on the normal routers seems fine, but I got a notice from my phone that it was detecting one of my mesh as open network. So two routers are wireless mesh with one router that is secondary router as wireless bridge then wired to primary router. No settings have been changed for months...
So i used a wifi analyzer app and saw the two different Aps for the mesh SSID and one was open and the other wasnt. So I then login to both and on both access pages for wireless>wireless security, they both showed in the gui as open/ no security. These go thru daily reboots so I rebooted and they both stayed in the same condition, one using the password for the security and one not, but on the gui both showing as security disabled/open.
I then switched to security what they are normally set, wpa2/personal and ccmp128 aes. and yes for the mesh they use wpa3, but this is to share an ssid for devices on the mesh to extend the range...Reboot and both are working properly. One shows on the wireless security tab everything correct except it is missing the check mark for ccmp128 and the other completely correct. I fixed that checkbox and saved and reboot and now they both reflect what they are set.
My only guess is weirdness with how the gui is processing that page when the other radio is set to mesh. Multiple reboots since I set everything correctly now and its reflecting correctly on the routers, but that was a total weird one. Might be something with this version that makes that not work correctly. I have not seen it different since I saved both, but again, since prior to the upgrade of firmware from the i think the 11/12 firmware version...something went wonky in the upgrade or how the gui reflects the status on that page.
I checked the rest of the routers which are not on mesh and their wireless settings and wireless security settings were correct. |
