After 3.5 days, I had to make a change to additional DNSMasq options, adding a static lease with a tag. About 30 seconds after I clicked Apply, the router had a kernel panic and crashed. It then went into a boot loop, crashing about 30 seconds after boot. It went through 4 cycles of this, then it booted back up normally and has been stable since.
Unfortunately, I wasn't gathering logs at that time. I will try to reproduce and gather logs at a later time. _________________ Formerly dpp3530 Linksys MR7350

Several builds back that caused me lots of grief.
Not too bad for myself cause I always use a cloned WAN MAC but if reset the WAN Mac did not match the box.
Bad shit at my Dad's place where he uses static DHCP from ISP same as me but his was always tied to his EA8500 true WAN MAC..
..update caused wrong IP from ISP...took me a bit to to figure --- so now his has cloned WAN MAC enabled.
just logged in there and his EA8500 r62606 has been up 3 days, 1:55
just gotta work over some stuffs sometimes

I was able to reproduce the issue, but this time the boot loop didn't stop. I did find that if the WAN is disconnected, the issue does not occur. Log is attached.

Previous/Reset: DD-WRT v3.0-r62170 std (09/20/25) / no
Mode/Status: WAP, VLANs / working
Issues/Errors: Works OK. Uptime 2 days. After upgrade the router did not reboot, but a power cycle restored normal operation. Two VAPs on wlan1 (2.4 GHz radio) resulted in both radios not working (Tx power 0).

With DD-WRT versions since early this year (2025), i found that after my Netgear R9000/XR700 or R7800/XR500 came back following a new f/ware flashing, i would wait for a minute or so; then i would do a second firmware reboot (via: |Administration|Management|Reboot Router|), these router models would work fine (assuming no issues with a particular version).
As mentioned earlier, i found r62606 to be the most stable f/ware version of late specifically for R9000/XR700.
It goes without saying that a specific DD-WRT version may not necessarily be the same for the rest of all routers running DD-WRT.
Cheers. _________________ Life is a journey; travel alone makes it less enjoyable and lonely.

On my R9000 I never had a need for second reboot...(my R9000 was first flashed with Kong build)
but i know some R9000 units behave odd for some reason...
it seams next builds for R9000 will have k6.12...and some other changes...so far 62606 is rock solid... _________________ Atheros

Good that you do not have the inconvenience of performing a second f/ware reboot after flashing a new f/ware on these models. But, i think it has a lot to do with the internal settings on each unit.
ii) Mine:
- Gateway
- Overclocked -2000MHz
- SmartDNS, DDNS
- Both 5GHz & 2.4GHz using DDWRT (not Vanilla)
- 2 VLANS (Guests on 5GHz; IoT on 2.4GHz)
- 'One-way' access to different networks from certain devices on my main LAN.
- WireGuard Server allowing access to home NAS while on the road; and for remote private backup (Not fee-paying commercial services).
- OpenVPN Client for o/seas-based programs for certain devices in different networks.
- 10G SFP+ (via optical fiber) connected to MikroTik RB5009 for enhanced security & granular firewall settings of home LAN.
- QoS - HFSC/FQ_CODEL with selected MAC, Netmask and Interface priorities. (Not Services, nor default).
- 1 x LAN port dedicated for testing routers (with Port-forwarding option selected to simply bypass firewall restrictions on gateway router, for ease of setting up when needed).
It's fair to say i made a 'slave' out of my XR700.
Cheers. _________________ Life is a journey; travel alone makes it less enjoyable and lonely.

I was using r59171 for a while, and it worked well until I tried to install the NUT server. I’ve just reset r62606 for the second time, so I can confirm these issues on r62606 as well.
Meanwhile, I tried r60137 for a few days with the same results.
1) `lsusb` (even on a clean install) throws an error: unable to initialize libusb: -99; and I don't see anything off with kernel modules; it just doesn't work. Though `lsusb -t` works fine.
2) An error from NUT components: Failed to init libusb 1.0: No such file or directory
3) Switching the WAN from PPPoE to Android Tethering corrupts the filesystem on my USB NVMe drive. Then, the system goes wild, with load averages exceeding 100 as the system attempts to reconnect the damaged filesystem.
4) And a small issue with the UI: when MAC addresses in static leases are in lowercase, they are duplicated on the WOL page.
UPD:
5) While trying to mount a Samba share as a CIFS volume, I receive: mount error(13): Permission denied; in Windows, everything works just fine.

Kernel: Linux 6.6.116-rt29 #4533 SMP Wed Nov 12 03:59:23 +07 2025 aarch64
Previous/Reset: R61848 --> OEM Firmware --> factory-to-ddwrt-r62606.img --> dd-wrt-webflash-r62606.bin
Mode/Status: Gateway device - NAS/Local FTP/Samba - OpenVPN server - DNSCrypt - A/P [WLAN0 : 1 SSID, 1 VAP] [WLAN1: 1 SSID, 1 VAP] [WLAN2: 1 SSID]
Issues/Errors: Flashing straight from R61848 results in boot loop. After flashing from the OEM firmware and manual reconfigure there is no connectivity to or from internet on the LAN side of the router.
Does the USB storage work in this build? I don't know. I gave up before I tried it.
Starting with R61848 with the factory defaults restored OEM Firmware then used the manual firmware update URL to flash factory-to-ddwrt.img.
Power Cycled router, changed credentials, enabled the wan port. Configured the DDNS service, NTP Client settings.
Power cycled again.
After boot up WAN port received a public IP address. The router updated the time and date, and successfully update the DDNS service.
At this point I only had a single WIN10 Pro desktop connected via Ethernet. No other devices.
Desktop could not could not reach the internet. Windows says there was no internet connection.
-Could not ping any public URL or public IP address using WIN10 Command Prompt.
-In the command prompt I could resolve URL's via NSLOOKUP, but could not reach the IP addresses.
-No issue connecting to router GUI or SSH.
Looked at log files. Did not find any errors or messages. Using strings /dev/mtdblock19 to view OOPS partition, it was blank.
Decided not to waste time trouble shooting and migrate back r61848.
Again just like R62778 I was not able to flash directly back to R61848 without ending up in a boot loop. Had to restore OEM F/W then use factory-to-ddwrt to revert to R61848.

Quick note re 62606 on Dynalink DL-WRX36: still testing, but two smallish issues noted so far:
Site Survey for wlan1 shows all RSSI figures some 40 dB or 50 dB too high. My neighbors' signals are all looking like they originate a foot from the router! This has been an issue for a number of builds. I just forgot to mention it.
Code:
curl --doh-url https://someServerIP/dns-query ...
is broken. Returns a failure to resolve. Worked fine in 61465. Tested on Quad9 and Cloudflare and various target URLs. _________________ On 61465: 3x Dynalink DL-WRX36, Linksys MX4200v2, 2x MR7350.
