I have the Asus RT-AC66U B1 (with blue USB port on the front) and find it impossible to flash any type of CFW onto it. The router works great with the latest OFW but I can't flash any CFW onto it from either the latest or the earliest Asus OFW available for it. I know lots of people report success with this router when using rescue mode but I can't even get to rescue mode reliably.

When trying to get into Rescue mode I use the following procedure:
- Press the power button to turn off the router.
- Hold the reset button.
- Press the power button to turn on the router.
- Continue holding the reset button until the power light blinks off (takes ~60 seconds)

Then in Windows 11, I change my ethernet ports IP assignment from "Automatic (DHCP)" to Manual with 192.168.1.10 as my IP and 255.255.255.0 as my subnet mask.

But I can almost never access the routers rescue mode from "http://192.168.1.1". It has only shown up for me once and that was after using the power button to turn it off and back on normally. Can anyone help?

First point of interest when it comes to the browser used, https-fallback and https-only mode(s) need to be disabled. Second point, it's also advisable to try using the correct restoration utility just in case mini CFE web interface is not working (it's literally in bold red letters in the Supported Devices Wiki to use it). Also, since this device isn't "officially" supported, it's always possible that any updates from Asus blocked 3rd party firmware, so it's possible that a downgrade may be required as the CFE interface may be blocking installation. Finally, this is always a timing thing to get it right, and may take many attempts. Just my thoughts.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I have had no luck at all connecting to this router from the restoration utility.
