errors: Flashing via CLI was fine...but as soon as i enable VPN client router goes to BOOTLOOP

my VPN client set up it has been always the same

disable-dco
block-ipv6
pull-filter ignore "ifconfig-ipv6"
pull-filter ignore "route-ipv6"
pull-filter ignore "dhcp-option DNS6"
pull-filter ignore "dhcp-option DNS"
keepalive 10 120

as well few other servers lines in case of one fails..(i removed those)

I do have PBR excluding one bridge(br2) and router has x2 vlans..

this buddy is using SmartDNS...

my R7800 produces the same error condition...it goes to boot loop...already tried to redial settings manually...after reset ...but it goes to bootloop as soon as i enable VPN client...

shall i try to enable "console debug option" and get the log again...if you believe it will be better..

here is the log...it says the same...
on a flashed unit with no reset..log starts after i enable vpn client, save/apply and then unit self reboots and goes into bootloop

Previous/Reset: DD-WRT v3.0-r61824 std (06/20/25), full reset
Mode/Status: Gateway (NSS-ECM), Access Point (5GHZ-HT20 AX/AC/N mixed, WPA2/WPA3, 802.11r/v/k, guest network, domain:UNITED STATES), performance governor, IPV6 (DHCP6 w/ prefix delegation), Entware, DOT via SmartDNS/DNSMasq, OpenVPN server, Wireguard Server + 2 Wired access points (2.4GHz-HT20 N/G Mixed, 5GHZ-HT80 AX/AC/N mixed, WPA2/WPA3, 802.11r/v/k, guest network, domain:UNITED STATES)
Issues/Errors:
Up 1.5 hours. USB 3.2 stick working properly for Entware and "jffs" partitions. Speed, wired and wifi, is very close to published, which is equal or favorable to the ISP router - tested via nPerf.com. Wireguard and OpenVPN servers both working as expected and throughput sufficient to open video files on network shares. 5GHz showing 22dBm (set to 30dBm). 2.4GHz showing 28dBm (also set to 30dBm).

Had some wifi instablilty on 5GHz after update. Was seeing it hit simultaneously on both streaming (guest wifi) and a Teams call (regular network), and I'm not 100% sure they were talking to the same AP. I wiped all three devices and reconfigured, one at a time. Seems to be stable so far.

Thank you Brainslayer.

Router/Version: Netgear R7800
File/Kernel: dd-wrt-webupgrade.bin / Linux 6.1.141-rt28 #589 SMP Mon Jun 23 05:29:07 +07 2025 armv7l
Previous/Reset: r61465 / No
Mode/Status: Gateway - AP / Working
Issues/Errors: None

Simple setup form main router, no DNS from ISP, no IPV6, WiFi5 @ 80MHz ch 136UL, WiFi4 @ 40 MHz ch 11+lower. Both with WPA2/CCMP-128. DHCP with a bunch of fixed IPs for home hosts.
SSH enabled to router and a couple port redirections to SSH from outside world to linux boxes.
No VPN. Nothing fancy.

Remarks:
- no bootloop :Smile)
- using only SFE. Wired gets full 600/100 from my HFC connection.

Kudos BS.

BUILD PULLED:

BrainSlayer wrote:
good news. bootloop is fixed. it was related to a cryptodev change and affects mainly wrt1900/wrt3200acm and r7800 based devices. dont know why it didnt crash on ipq807x.
but anyway. i was able to reproduce it and fixed it and the fixed version didnt come up with that issue. i will now delete the last 3 versions from the download server and build everything new overnight.
