Netgear R9000
Firmware: r61264 std (05/14/25)
Kernel: Linux 4.9.337 #770 SMP Thu Apr 24 00:05:49 +07 2025
Reset: No
Mode & Uptime: Gateway >18hr
Features:
- DDWRT WIFI component - 5GHz (AC/N-Mixed); 2.4GHz (NG-Mixed)
- Network separation (VLAN)
* Home network (vlan1, wlan0, wlan1)
* Guest (wlan0.1)
* IoT (wlan1.1)
(All port-based VLANS are bridged)
- OpenVPN Server
- OpenVPN Client with PBR for specific hosts (via IPs)
- P/Forwarding via 10G LAN SFP+ to 2nd router running WireGuard.
- QoS (HFSC/SFC priorities set on various MAC, Netmask & Interface)

- Disabled wlan2 (60Ghz). Not in use.

All utilized features work fine after 18 hours. Most stable version for R9000 in a while. There is a minor issue however.

Issue/Error: 5GHz & 2.4Ghz work while their LEDs off. However, when wlan2 (60Ghz) is deployed, both 5GHz & 2.4Ghz STOP working but their LEDs are on! A bit confusing.

Thank you.

I am not an expert. I am a newb really. I have been using dd-wrt for many years though. I have just purchased 3 x Linksys MX-4200 as a set. These are triband routers and the following is the configuration on the first one. I have not opened the others.

Router/Version: Linksys MX4200 v2
File/Kernel: DD-WRT v3.0-r61264 std (05/14/25) Linux 6.6.90-rt29 #3287 SMP Wed May 14 05:58:44 +07 2025 aarch64
Previous/Reset: DD-WRT v3.0-r61238 std (05/12/25)
Mode/Status: 5GHZ AP, 2.4GHZ AP, 5GHZ AP (WDS)
Issues/Errors:
- I flashed with 61238 first and began configuring. After a few minutes the UI became unresponsive. I can reboot and regain access for a few minutes before the same thing happens. I flashed with 61264 and the same thing happens. I have wireless internet from laptop connected through the device and I have ssh but httpd becomes unresponsive after 2-3 minutes max.

Not sure what I can do from here.

Are you configuring anything specific when this happens? ie, are you making any changes inside the Networking tab when this happens?

Can you still ping the router whenever this happens? I would assume so since still have Internet via Wifi. If you can, telnet or ssh into the router. Unless you enabled logging in the Services tab, you will not have a log to look at.

telnet ROUTER_IP

Login with username root and whatever your Webui password is.
To check if the web server is running type:
ps | grep httpd

You should get back something like this:
2524 root 22904 S httpd -n -p 80
3776 root 1272 S grep httpd

If you don't see httpd in this output, then httpd (the webui) is not running.

You can try to restart it manually with:
service httpd restart

You really need to enable logging in the Services tab. It's near the bottom under System Log. Enable both Syslogd and Klogd then save and reboot.

Not sure what I can do from here.

Also, in Basic Settings, near the top, try setting Shortcut Forwarding Engine to NSS-ECM in the dropdown menu and then enabling QCA NSS Subsystem on the next line. I found those changes to be necessary some builds back (59582, Feb 9) on that model router. Without it, the router would hang or even spontaneously reboot, so it's worth a test.

DNSmasq manages that plus ad blocking and local DNS.

No nothing specific. Httpd just becomes unresponsive. I can ssh in and do a stopservice httpd and then a startservice httpd which will give me access for about 45 seconds. Then the same thing happens.

I will try the NSS-ECM setting for SFE now.

Thank you.

No difference with the NSS-ECM setting though I will leave that. I had access long enough to change that setting and click around a little between tabs. I can ping and ssh but I do not see errors in either dmesg or /var/log/messages. The httpd process is running when this happens.

Possible solution. I changed the NSS-ECM to NSS-ECM-SFE and now clicking through tabs has become way faster. I will leave this setting for a few minutes to see if my problem goes away. Already looks much better.

UPDATE: The NSS-ECM-SFE setting seems to have resolved my issue with the UI. I will proceed with the other two Linksys MX-4200 using build 61264 with SFE setting NSS-ECM-SFE.

Thanks Gurus!
