|
I am currently running r57200 on a Netgear R7000. I have CenturyLink Fiber and I am NOT using the CL-provided router, just the R7000 connected directly to the ONT and handling the PPPoE login. I have got that all working fine (more or less... CL's VLAN tagging is the biggest pain there, but I have finally wrestled it into submission, which is why I am able to post this at all).
The only real "issue" is that I am having a rough time setting up my VLANs and subnets so they work smoothly and do DHCP correctly. I did have them all setup correctly, but then I was tweaking some stuff and ended up screwing something up and had to do a factory reset.
Now I am reminded of what a pain it was the first time and I thought I might have a better experience with a newer firmware version, but I am not sure if an update is going to be beneficial. (To keep this thread on a single topic, I will post about my problems in the Advanced Networking forum.)
Thoughts on doing a firmware update?
[EDIT: As I was writing my post for the Advanced Networking forum, I figured out what I was doing wrong and I think I've got it (mostly) figured out... basically my CIDR notations were wrong. The question in this thread is still relevant.] |
