I'm using wireguard to connect to nordvpn on my Netgear R9000 router. When I initially setup, I was able to get to my son's school parent portal but now I can't. I can get to every other site that I normally use as well as other sites without any problem. When I run drill on that portal it returns SERVFAIL. It does that when I specify a DNS server that I don't use like 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 or my ISP DNS server (i.e. drill @8.8.8.8 infinitecampus.org), also. No DNS issues with any other site. I tried turning off the wireguard but that didn't fix the issue. The school district says they haven't made any changes. Probably not since I can use my Pixel 7 on cell data and can access the portal. Using an online DNS check service (dnschecker.org), infinitecampus.org resolves to 198.145.32.30. Using that in a browser doesn't bring up the web site either. So, what could be the problem?
Got the problem resolved by putting DNS addresses in the "DNS Servers via Tunnel" field. But I'm confused as to why this is necessary. All the other sites I go to don't need this. Not only that, not all DNS addresses resolve this one website when put in the "DNS Servers via Tunnel" field. Right now I'm using 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 in the "DNS Servers via Tunnel" field.
