Hello,

I have not been in the forum for some time now. I was searching the forum to see if there was any recent updates on nas, samba and minidlna and I have not seen any. My last update was in 2021 and it was working great. Now I am getting a network error and everything freezes.

Is there any recent stable firmware inclusive of nas, samba and minidlna for the netgear R8000

It seems the unknown network error crap is with Windows. Works fine in Linux on same hardware.

There is two causes that I found out.

The issue is with the Private and Public network profiles. If you set it to Ethernet adapter to Public profile and enable filesharing. The problem is only 1/2 fixed. This is in control panel in network configuration.

The other issue is if you told Windows to remember the credentials it will also error out with unknown network error.

Delete the credentials in Windows credentials manager for the filesharing. You will have to enter the user name password every time you access the shares after a reboot or logout.

This was an issue until I played around with it for months and found these two causes. Also some AV will switch the ethernet adapter to private profile. Im looking at you Avast!
