EDIT: @bushant, need exact configuration steps to reproduce the issue
It's pretty easy to reproduce. It is exactly as Sash wrote:

when you connect ath9k to an ap via wds-sta and you try to cerate an VAP, the wds connection gets lost and cant reconnect. as soon as you disable the VAP the wds link comes up again.

"The WIKI" section referenced points to MAC address info. Not relevant to the protocol of WDS AP and WDS Sta operating modes. I can only guess who interjected that garbage. You don't need to enter information for MAC addresses on Atheros. Going to have the head master look that page over and hope the internet and mail servers between us don't catch fire. He's literally stated that the MAC addresses page doesn't apply to Atheros - or rather, that when using WDS AP and STA modes, that tab is not required.

At some point in time I noticed one router. WDS AP or STA I dont remember, did not have the MAC address page filled out and it was still working.
Must have been neglected after a reset or something.
BUT after BS said they were not needed I tried doing away with them.
It did not work and using the Mac setup pages fixed the connection.
That was quite some time ago and old memories are foggy.
Fair to say I didn't invest much effort into that, Parbly needed reboots or resets or...? something else I did not do.
Edit: Just disabled the settings on WDS tabs on 7800 WDS AP and 7500v2 STA and the routers remain connected.
Edit2: Narrowed the WDS vap problem down to have broken between public betas 57834 and 57956

In the last week or two, in the nightlies, something got bunked in NVRAM and killed my Vaps too, but no WDS in my case- just vaps
I reverted back to an older build, 55615 as it was my last nvram b/u too, and restored the 55615 nvram b/u and directly loaded today's public build. Viola, Vaps working like normal again...
Have you tried a wipe and clean install of the latest? _________________ FORUM RULES

Update as of: 2024-10-13 (version released 2024-09-02)
Router/Version: Netgear R7800
File/Kernel: r58283 / k6.1
Previous: r56941
Reset: Before and after GUI flash
Mode/Status: Gateway, AP, Vanilla, SFE Disabled, 2.4 GHz WiFi in Station Mode
Issues/Errors:2.4 GHz WiFi in "Station" Radio Mode has lost WAN connectivity three times since updating ~1.5 months ago. A reboot fixes the issue, temporarily.
Edit2: Narrowed the WDS vap problem down to have broken between public betas 57834 and 57956
Just finished testing 55677 and the WDS works but the VAP does not. So while the WDS Station is working in this version, the VAP is not. Will keep going back until I find one.
