Someone please send me the latest daily build once it becomes available. I wish @brainslayer would give me daily build access. sigh! I have requested with no reply.

r56941 runs great, now that I know the missing switch config tab was not a bug after all. I have not yet replaced my EA8500 with it but I really do like this router! This build runs at full 1800mhz and while it does run hot and this build version does not have the NSS code. Might run even hotter with NSS enabled.

I really like the vlan approach with this router and the individual ports. I think all of the newly supported AX router builds are the same. Just makes way more sense. I wish the Linux Network Manager had such an interface. Very Happy While it's not bad, this is better for sure.

None of the 57420 IPQ images built last I checked. MSOE pinged me about it, he noticed the same thing. I also just noticed no Northstar or Alpine builds, either. Oddly, Marvell images built. Not sure if this was a copy error now or what. I haven't pinged BS yet, but not the first time this has ever happened. So we wait and see.

Probably related to the issue when the info page is enabled and when using Pale moon. In other words, incomplete merging of webUI fixes because stature over complete product was the goal. Of course, save until ready to implement configuration changes via reboot is always recommended rather than impatience.

While I know nothing about Pale Moon, except I have heard of it but has been recommended to use the ESR release of Firefox for accessing your router. I find all this kinda ridiculous. Maybe it's a Windows thing? I dunno. I have never owned or used Windows at my home. Sure, my wife and kids use it and I maintain it and I have to use it professionally as well. But I do NOT use it at home personally and rarely have.

I have been using the regular release of Firefox on Fedora Linux for nearly three decades. NEVER have I had a problem with it accessing DD-WRT with it. I also have at least 10 Firefox Addons installed. Again, maybe it's just a Windows thing?

r57437:
This one boots fine without any kernel dumps even after a full reset and 2.4ghz enabled. I am not noticing anything quirky about the GUI as reported to me by MSOE. I was met with the first time login page and it accepted the credentials without issue. Sometimes whenever making a settings change, the GUI is very slow to come back, even after pinging resumes. I have had wait times of up to 30 seconds after it begins to ping again. Then all is well again.

Configured the 5ghz, it appears to be working. However any TX Power setting above 23dBm is ignored. It should go to 30dBm.

Ditto to the 2.4ghz. Again, it ignores any TX Power setting above 19dBm. Even when set to 30dBm.

CPU still stuck at 864mhz and the highest I can make it is 1512mhz. However it does run much cooler at this speed...as it should Wink

I've also noticed this message whenever the router becomes inaccessible. This only occurs occasionally after making some change and applying it:
Code:

289.175204] unregister_netdevice: waiting for br0 to become free. Usage count = 2

After rebooting it I am able to get back in.

Thank you BS, kernel_panic69 & msoengineer for all your assistance with these builds.

Had a runaway kernel dump after turning on USB and clicking apply. I don't believe this has anything to do specifically with USB as the settings were not saved after a power reset. Tried it again and this did not happen the second time. There were many pages of these alternating to each CPU core and I have not yet been able to re-create it. This is heavily truncated:

GUI seems more stable but when I changed the SFE to NSS-ECM I got locked out:
Code:

[ 1281.194201] ECM init
[ 1281.194281] ECM database jhash random seed: 0xdb44717b
[ 1281.325890] ECM init complete

[ 1360.365348] unregister_netdevice: waiting for br0 to become free. Usage count = 2

This continues until a reboot. EDIT: I believe it's designed to reboot whenever anything SFE related is changed. So br0 is not coming down to allow for the reboot to occur. This is a correct assumption?

SFE NSS and ECM throughput testing:
Without any SFE modes turned on, I am getting ~940Mbps throughput. Turning on ANY of these modes does not improve on that, as honestly it shouldn't because this is the practical speed limit imposed by the hardware.

Which begs the question, why do we even need SFE? Sure the extra cores NSS provides may keep things a bit cooler and allow the CPUs to do more useful things. I understand that.

I have really no way of testing the HW encryption provided by ECM at this point, but IMO I really think SFE itself is probably not needed on this HW.

So anyway while I was typing this post and the router idling next to me, this happened:
Code:

r57447

I now believe most of the lockout issues I was having and reported above were entirely due to having the CPU governor set to performance. Even though performance only yields a max CPU speed of 1512mhz (specs are 1800mhz) the unit runs VERY HOT, even at 1512mhz. I am wondering if this excessive heat was causing self created stability issues.

I had changed back to performance and the lockout issues again reappeared after about 15 minutes so I am running this now using the stock ondemand with no issues so far.

This does not mean the problems have been fixed...only averted by switching back to ondemand. Under considerable load, it could still become hot and unstable again, but using NSS-ECM seems to also avoid this situation. I do not believe SFE would ever be needed on this router as NSS-ECM practically totally grounds the CPU usage on Gb transfers.

See my iperf3 speed test results using all forms of SFE on the r57447 build page.
https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=336928&highlight=

We still have TX Power issues of course. Also it seems that NSS-ECM reloads at least twice when connecting the WAN port. This may explain why it can take up to 65 seconds to get a WAN port IP address.

I remember seeing in the SVN that any changes to SFE would force a reboot. This no longer seems to be the case with this particular router but both my R7800 and EA8500 do still reboot when anything SFE is changed.

57489 just tested:

Same still.....

    1. upon initial PW change-gui hangs on http://192.168.1.1/apply.cgi forever and never loads the next site.
(And yes, cleared cache and full browser cleaning- Chrome 91 on Windows 7 fwiw)
    2. From first boot, cannot get an IP address on wifi when no password.
    3. TX power stuck at 22-23dBM on 5ghz, Same low 19dbm on 2.4
    4. Wan MAC= Lan MAC

But we're getting closer to having something run.

I have not put this on WAN yet to see how it runs. I have too much important WFH stuff I cannot intterupt for testing until after 9PM...and by then I am worn out. I don't have the time that I used to several years ago... I sell the chip shortage now and have no spare time outside 10-15min of play time here and there.

As I am not able to re-create this first boot / password issue using firefox, I reset the unit again (since emailing you earlier) and tried to re-create using Chrome Version 125.0.6422.141 (Official Build) (64-bit) also on Fedora Linux 39. It worked and I immediately got a login prompt which promptly logged me into the router. Maybe the problem is Chrome v91?

I was very close to putting this router directly onto the Internet today, but that darn pesky WAN MAC = WLAN MAC would make it semi-dangerous, imo. I even tried manually changing WAN to the correct MAC via nvram (nvram set wan_hwaddr=11:22:33:44:55:66), but it doesn't stick on reboots. It always reverts back to the WLAN MAC address.

Yes, we are getting close and I believe the internal radio calibration issue was fixed this morning as well. I have not had issues with that since going to r57477.

Chrome 91 is a little too antique, Chrome 109 is the last version that supports Win7.

Tried out the latest build on the MR3750 - iPhone tethering isn't working

On a fresh dd-wrt install I simply set the new admin credentials, set the WAN mode to Automatic DHCP as the install guide recommends, reboot, then change WAN mode to iPhone tethering (which enables core usb).

Prior to taking these steps the usb port on the router supplies power, afterward the usb light on the back of the router turns on but no longer supplies power and it doesn't connect to the tethered iphone hotspot.

Just mentioning in case it hasn't been tested yet / if there's anything I can do to help. Happy to test using my equipment.

Is this on 57515? Did you reboot or save/apply?

I was using 57447, which I mistakenly thought was the latest.

I will try 57515 and report back.

Just loaded 57515 and let it set to default settings after the upgrade was complete.
Did the same steps as mentioned previously, including save>apply>reboot (to answer your question).

It appears to still have the same problem as before. Anything you want me to try?

Try starting over and enabling USB Core and Storage support after the WAN auto-DHCP, save, and reboot (reboot after WAN change, then after USB Core/Storage), then enable iPhone Tethering. Apparently, it maybe broken, but I don't have the link to the mention of that or a ticket handy.
