The first thing I always install in Entware is bash. #opkg install bash
It's a much better shell, but opinions differ. Don't forget to add the /opt/etc/init.d/rc.unslung start to your Administration/Commands/Startup.

I use this to retain my command history:
Code:

/opt/etc/init.d/rc.unslung start
ln -s /opt/root/.bash_history /tmp/root/.bash_history

However, you must remember to type bash whenever you first login to router via ssh/telnet for it to work.

okay thanks bro!

also did you add bin and sbin to $PATH?

what exactly should I add?

You shouldn't need to. It's done automatically. You can check by typing #echo $PATH

Should look something like this:
Code:

# echo $PATH
/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/jffs/sbin:/jffs/bin:/jffs/usr/sbin:/jffs/usr/bin:/mmc/sbin:/mmc/bin:/mmc/usr/sbin:/mmc/usr/bin:/opt/sbin:/opt/bin:/opt/usr/sbin:/opt/usr/bin

nothing comes out with the command #echo $PATH

but what purpose should it serve?

You have to remove the "#" from the command. I only assume you left it in because you would certainly get something back otherwise. Just "echo $PATH" Your $PATH contains the folders the OS searches for the commands you type.
