I am interested in router that is DD-WRT compatible and has 8 LAN ports. WiFi isn't essential in this deployment. I have an old Linksys EA9500 but that one cannot run DD-WRT. Does anyone have suggestions on a make and model that would fit my needs?

Thanks for the thoughts, egc but I've done this and have now managed to destroy 2 switches. Heat maybe? I thought that maybe eliminating the switch would solve the problem. The Linksys router that I am using has been plugging away.
Not sure why your switches are burning up, but my TpLink TL-SG108E managed switch has been going strong for a few years now (as well as three other 5 port versions). Cheap too, for a managed switch. If you would ever decide to set up vlans, you will want a managed switch, so just food for thought. _________________ Linksys EA8500 (Internet Gateway, AP/VAP) - DD-WRT r53562
