I had a Linksys E3000 running r51140 Big just fine

I attempted to load dd-wrt.v24-53775_NEWD-2_K2.6_big-nv60k.bin on it via webinterface and after grinding away at it, the router rebooted and came back to - 51140. The flash had failed.

I then switched to the mini load of 51140 and that fit just fine.

I have the same problem with Netgear WNDR4000s but it is worse since those have even more restrictions in the 8MB flash on how big of a firmware you can fit into them. And they will brick if you put too large a firmware into them.

This is a particular problem because switching to the mini builds means I lose access to the USB port.

If BS can't trim the weight off the Big builds, could he produce some of the critical K26 builds - NAS and VPN - in nv60k and nv64k versions?

Kind of the whole point of the Big builds was to fit Mega builds into routers like the Netgear WNDR4000 that couldn't fit Mega builds anymore. Now, the Mega builds have exceeded 8MB even though practically no K26 routers were produced with more than 8MB flash, and Big builds have gotten to the size Mega builds used to be.

Size growth of images is the number 1 reason I have a box full of bricks.

I needed human readable evidence before bothering him.
Code:
dd-wrt.v24-51140_NEWD-2_K2.6_big-nv60k.bin         31-Dec-2022 03:53             7898112
dd-wrt.v24-53775_NEWD-2_K2.6_big-nv60k.bin         26-Oct-2023 01:27             8135680

Because I didn't think to check sizes of the K30 builds. In the long past the K3x were larger
than the K26. I will start updating the wiki for the devices I have that fit into this category.

I just flashed 53815 K3 Mega to my WNDR4000 and it's fine. Thank you!
