I have a modem. That modem is plugged into a dd-wrt router, let's call it router 1. That dd-wrt router is plugged into another dd-wrt router via ethernet, let's call it router 2. I'm trying to make it so that computers connected to router 1 are on the same lan network as router 2 and vice versa.

I used to have this set up correctly and it was great. Every computer that connected to either router 1 or router 2 had a "192.168.1.x" lan address and they could communicate with each other no problem. Router 1 could be accessed from either router at 192.168.1.1 and router 2 could be accessed from either router at 192.168.1.2. A thunderstorm knocked out my "router 1" which I had to replace. I ran into enough "stuff not working for no reason" type problems while setting up the replacement for router 1 that I had to completely reset settings on router 2 as part of my troubleshooting.

I have completely lost the settings I was previously using to accomplish this and I can't guess them back. Even following guides such as the dd-wrt Linking Routers tutorial doesn't work. After spending all afternoon on it, I ended up getting it so that I can access the firmware configuration page at 192.168.1.1 for router 1 while connected to router 2 as well as connect to the internet but computers and printers on router 1's lan are completely inaccessible from router 2.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix this?

What router models are involved with what buildnumbers?

Connect a LAN port of Router1 to a LAN port of Router 2.
