Issues/Errors: 2.4GHz radio keeps dying using DD-WRT or Vanilla wifi firmware.

Signs of impending doom? Hardware failure imminent? Danger, Will Robinson?
Have you been running with settings that have the cooling fan constantly running?
Are you sure your wifi settings are optimal for use-case scenario?

Steps and configurations to reproduce, please. Thanks.

It was working fine until I upgraded the firmware.

what was the previous build you upgraded from?

I mean if it was me, I would do a factory reset and start over just to make sure. These R9000 routers are known to have problems both factory stock and custom firmware.

Apparently a lot of routers have issues. Anyway, I upgraded from 50786. I'm not going to do a factory reset if I have to manually set the thing up again.

The reason why I asked you for which version you are upgrading from and why I suggested a factory reset is because brainslayer is making changes to the firmware around the clock.

Some of these changes can be so drastic that it would require you to do a backup, remember the firmware you are upgrading from, upgrade with factory reset, and then try to see how it does.

if it fails, go back to previous firmware and backup. if it does not, great! rinse and repeat a while later down the road.
