Cannot ping Windows 11 Pro PCs with static ip directly connected by ethernet
Hi, I have two windows 11 pro machines with fresh os and i configured static ips so they could communicate but they aren't able to communicate this time. I don't know why... I tried resetting the tcp/ip with netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt on both pcs, nothing.
Cannot ping Windows 11 Pro PCs with static ip directly connected by ethernet
pc 1 set to 192.168.1.100 / 255.255.255.0 / 192.168.1.1
pc 2 set to 192.168.1.101 / 255.255.255.0 / 192.168.1.1
I tried pinging eachother from both pcs and still request timed out every time, even after disabling the firewall.
Any advice?
It shows No network access on both pcs as well... I get activity lights on the ethernet port so its got some kind of connectivity.
You need an unmanaged switch in between or a crossover cable. _________________ "The woods are lovely, dark and deep,

I got it working now its fixed just set 192.168.1.50 on pc 1 and 192.168.1.51 pn pc 2 with 255.255.255.0 & 192.168.1.1 on both pcs and now i can ping each pc with no loss at 1ms response time.
However i cannot connect to my 192.168.1.51 pc 2 on Call Of Duty WWII as I get "CANNOT CONNECT TO HOST" yet the server shows up in the list and I have the Windows Defender Firewall turned off on both pcs and still only the 192.168.1.51 pc can connect to my laptop which is 192.168.1.50...
So to be clear my ryzen 5 3550h mini pc is the 192.168.1.51 pc and my lenovo ideapad 110-15acl laptop is 192.168.1.50 pc and only the ryzen mini pc can connect to my laptop and play call of duty wwii together but the ryzen mini pc cannot host the server for some reason? Idk why...
Since you guys are networking geniuses on here & that's why i posted in the "General Questions" category. If anyone may help me with "Cannot Connect To Host" on Call Of Duty WWII, I'd appreciate it very much. As it's a direct ethernet connection without a switch or router in between with zero firewalls active on both freshly installed official windows 11 pro installations. Thanks

Can you manually ping the IP address of the server listed by the CoDWWII server list?
If you turn off 192.168.1.51 (Ryzen PC), could the laptop (192.168.1.50) play CoDWWII then?
What is 192.168.1.1? Is it the DD-WRT router?
Are you trying to turn your Ryzen mini PC into a CoDWWII server?? To host games, ports of the server PC must be opened in the server PC's firewall. Had your laptop ever set up as a CoDWWII server? Did you forget how to open ports in the firewall of the laptop??
Are you 100% sure that Call Of Duty World War II is opened to all users? Do some servers block your country? Do they block high-ping players? And slow PCs?
It seemed that it's a common problem, based on my Google Search keywords:
Anyway, Windows Defender should not be blocking your games. SO you don't need to disable it, and it's a bad idea anyway. _________________ Router: Asus RT-N18U (rev. A1)
