as you know how to unbrick via TFTP (this is the first step everyone, should know when installing any non stock or even stock firmware) now you can try 52549 as its stable ...so far..
for your samba usb issues...as DDWRT is linux based, try using linux format like ext2 or 3 or 4
the problem is your 1043v1 has very slow CPU and there it gets very slow and buggy with other performance especially when using NAS..
the stock firmware is using hardware offloading chip (im not sure about your v1 but v2 has it) and its performance with stock firmware is way better...so stick with stock firmware and miss lots of security updates and ect....this is the reason i use DDWRT firmware as its very quick updated when is about security and has lots of other useful stuff..
p.s. i told you that for tftf flash, you must find the correct name required, and you can see it in the tftp console...so now you know tftp procedure...you have all the freedom

The script is not required. At most, if anything, you connect via wi-fi, and do all the steps previously required for the V2 before the firmware was fixed. The "WAN" port should be disabled by default and it should be in wired AP mode. The information has already been given. _________________ "The woods are lovely, dark and deep,

From a V2 for comparison of applicable settings (we have all supported models in inventory currently, but no V4 at present location):
Setup -> Basic Setup
Setup -> Advanced Routing
Setup -> Networking
