This post is perhaps related - not sure.

https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=331867&highlight=chromecast

I have a Linksys WRT 1900ACS router with one radio on Station mode (connected to Wifi) and the other radio in Access Point mode (internal network etc).

I have a new Chromecast. Works fine when on my home network. If I connect the Chromecast to the DD-WRT router internal network I can see the Chromecast but streaming hangs. Needs to be some sort of port blocking etc.

Devices on the internal network have no other connection issues etc. the Chromecast can play Netflix etc. just can’t complete the connection to cast.

Any idea at all where to start looking in the settings?

That other thread was about a bridge mode, not client (station) mode.

That didn’t resolve the issue. iPhone app says “casting…” and Chromecast says “ready to cast”. If I switch directly to my home network it works fine. The dd-wrt router is hanging this up somewhere.

It would seem to be "AP Isolation" - this musty be enabled. Tested both ways. Works perfectly when on.
