Using R7800 on City Fibre Vodafone 900

When you configure the switch, piece of piece, the RJ45 jacks may not work at times.
However, you can connect via WLAN without any problems and continue configuring or resetting the router/importing a backup.

Even if you have cut off the wired connection, you can still connect over wifi and configure the router.

Do a "swconfig dev swith0 show" to see the running Configuration.

I've now upgraded to 52054, do you mind telling me what i need to do on the R7800 to get this working? I've done the same steps as on the Broadcom but it's not connecting (which you seemed to suggest anyway)

I have reverted the changes suggested on the previous page and added this to the startup command.. still not connecting.. and when I do "swconfig list" I get:

root@R7800:~# swconfig list
Found: switch0 - gpio-0

What should the "WAN Port Assignment" be set to if I am using the above commands?

did you even read what I wrote?

On the r7800 more settings are necessary and I sent you a link.

first these settings https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=332023&start=15

and then your individual VLAN settings

And if you want to use the manual startup commands from Per Yngve Berg then you have to disable the "switch config" tab and undo all other changes.

This command only list the switches present on the device. the command you want to use is


swconfig dev switch0 show

Yes, sorry, what I mean was, you already said it wouldnt work on the R7800 if I took the same approach as on the Broadcom router. I appreciate I will need to do a bit more setup on the R7800.

I will have another go tonight when Im back from work and see how I get on. Smile

You don't need to test it, I just tested it.
The VLAN tagging in the "switch config" tab is broken it does not set the tag for the WAN port correctly.

I have forwarded it, a fix will surely be available in the next build.

OK, cheers.. So my only option is to disable the switch tab and use the commands provided by Per?

eth0 is the default WAN port

i can also post a fixed alpha build later.
(but may take 1-2 days)

Run "swconfig dev switch0 show" with the swconfig commands in thr startup.

At the bottom of the output you will see this:

VLAN 1:
vid: 1
ports: 1 2 3 4 6
VLAN 2:
vid: 911
ports: 0 5

Wan will still be on eth0 in the router. No need to reconfigure anything.

But as you can see from the last screenshot I still have no connection.

I must be missing something? I feel I am close but missing the final bit. Smile

@ho1Aetoo: I am slightly confused with the last comment you said.. Should I expect this to work, or are you saying it wont work?

Why isn't the WAN interface the same as the VLAN/VID?

EDIT: Nevermind. I see that behavior has changed compared to previous known practices.
