Goodday everyone,

Let's just say I am dumb... I applied the 16MB fix (ment for the WRT54GS) on a WRT54G v5.

Obviously after it didn't boot anymore. If I short pin 16 of the flash chip to ground I will get into the bootloader (TTL 100). From here I can TFTP an image and pings will stop for a bit and then I can get into the GUI and into telnet.

However if I then reboot or power cycle, it will go back to being bricked (power and all port lights on). Does this mean I fried the flash chip? I had assumed that during the TFTP process it would have written to the flash chip. Or does it just write to RAM and that's why I can get into the GUI untill I reboot?

Page 2 indicates that you need to JTAG it.

Unfortunately you will need to JTAG the unit to reflash the CFE. It's not hard but you need the right cable and CFE for the WRT54Gv5 to do it.

Can report, I was able to unbrick using tjtag-pi.
Spent another half hour trying to figure out why I wasn't getting ping responses, while being plugged into the WAN port.. Embarassed
