So I'm trying to setup a Netgear R6300v2 in client mode.
5G wifi as client connecting to primary router's LAN 192.168.1.0/24, the client router will get 192.168.1.50 for example as WAN address.

2.4G wifi will be AP mode, along with the 4 LAN ports as the LAN of the client router with 10.0.0.0/24, LAN interface address the usual 10.0.0.1.

If I understand the bridged/unbridged option on the wireless setting page, 2.4G wifi should be bridged to the 4 LAN ports, while 5G wifi client should be unbridged?

If memory serves, in the older versions, if I select a mode other than the default AP mode, the settings below will be grayed out accordingly (or hidden accordingly).
But with the latest version (the Mar 8 2023 version), all different modes show the same settings, with the same default/pre-selected settings.
Am I missing something, or both wifi should indeed be set to bridged?

I also checked the Client Mode wiki page:
https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Client_Mode
it doesn't mention the bridged/unbridged option.

Thanks for any tips.

Perhaps I should manually select un-bridged for the client 5G wifi? If so, what should be the address? Is this address the WAN of the client router (but this should be set under the Setup page right?) or whatever?

this is the default. in the old versions I think each different mode will show different sets of options, but now all modes will show the same set of options, pre-selected the same way.

They probably disappear after you have applied ?

On a side note, I would not use AC Only, AC/N is usually the safer choice

That's exactly the confusing part. It stays there even if I hit save, and even after applied.
In older versions unrelated settings disappear right after a mode is selected.
I upgraded from a 2019 built so not sure exactly which version it started to act like this.

The primary lan router is also AC, and I'm only using the secondary client router's 5G as the back haul, the 5G is for WAN traffic only, so don't really need compatibility for any client devices.
All clients will be on 2.4g.
The client router's 5G is at client mode so guessing it not open for client anyway (unless it supports additional AP/SSID and so on.)
The other side is actually another R6300v2 with netgear stock firmware in AP mode to the main router. (stock AP mode with 2.4G turned off, 5G wifi just to offer WAN/internet for the client R6300v2; meanwhile using the WAN port cable to main router, LAN port cable to some servers)

I tested the client mode briefly, seems to working fine even though the strange Bridged selection there (I also tried the unbridged and entered 192.168.1.51/24 just for a try, seems like no effect). Maybe that bridged/unbridged field has no effect if the wireless interface is at Client mode.

before this upgrade, I had both r6300v2 with an older 2019 dd-wrt build.
Now changed some cabling for a new setup, thinking it's also a good time to update the firmware, and re-do the settings. Then the bridged/unbridged confused me...

If anyone interested perhaps have a look at the Client/Station mode too?

The Wireless interface acts as WAN and should get its IP address via udhcpc, I would thin.
So having all those fields can indeed be confusing.

At least it is working as it should I gather from your post, that is the good news, the bad news is then that this probably will not have high priority to correct.
