I have the WRT3200 ACM.

How do I get Channel 161 or 165 on the 5Ghz? I only see as high as Channel 144, 149 and 157.

Channel selection availability is dependent on regulatory domain selection.

Meaning, DD-WRT knows which country and do not pick the channels that is not FCC approved?

"All WRT3200ACM devices are programmed with device power table. Mwlwifi driver will base on region code to set
country code for your device and it will not allow you to change country code.
" Verify your router hardware region.

Might be able to get channels you want with regulatory domain selection wireless settings first advanced checkbox.

I was trying to say these WRT3200ACM are hard-coded from the factory to a specific region, at least transmit power.

But, you can still try playing with dd-wrt webui wireless settings. See advanced checkbox in the first interface wlan0.
There should be a dropdown selection for regulatory domain. Try save, reboot then verify available channels. YMMV.

More info is here also over here, but honestly much better advice is to disable all radios then external access points.
Maybe access points such as CF-E380AC or CF-E385AC, or completely different model router R7800, XR450, XR500.

WikiDevi: R7800 (XR450/XR500), R7500v2, EA8500, R9000 (R8900/XR700).
R7800, XR450, XR500, R7500v2, EA8500 (serial flash), x86 (one, two, three).

What Regulatory Domain are we discussing here?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels#5_GHz_(802.11a/h/j/n/ac/ax)

You must also consider the extensions channel upper or lower (6 channels)

Also pertains to channel width.
