Are there any reasons why I can SSH into DD-WRT via my PC CMD, but Putty is getting refused (edit: also WINSCP is refused) by DD-WRT? Is there some Putty setting to switch?

I see some google-results talking about various builds not having SSH working, and another post about Putty connections refused, but didn't find anything definitive yet.

I'm working on a new DD-WRT setup, and have not saved keys yet, just using user/PW for now.

I double checked putty/winscp old saved logins don't have keys anymore, and just tried new connections from scratch... nothing... but CMD works just fine. seems weird.

Tried adding winscp.exe to the windwows firewall... same no change.

<SOLVED>
I tried reinstalling winscp.... but solution was clearing out (years) of old data.

WinSCP / Tools (bottom left) / Clean up / select all

So bad/outdated stuff in the appdata I guess.... now connects as expected.

Have not fixed putty, but maybe a similar process will help.

I'm not sure why so many are having putty issues.

Move Ed25519 to the top...move RSA to second in the list...and unchecked "Prefer algorithms for which a host key is known"

That's all that I did to make putty work with recent builds.

I have no issues connecting via SSH

Certainly works as well, if clearing out old host keys or starting over with clean config isn't an option (putty -clear).

https://svn.dd-wrt.com/changeset/51691

Message: cherrypick bugfix if hostkey is changed from rsa to ed25519 which is the case for newer dd-wrt versions
