Indeed! I will be very pleased if you could give me an advice on alternative firmware for newer RT-N12 VP B1, it has mediatek MT7628 cpu. I bought this router for my parents in a hurry without carreful consideration.

2019.3.118 beta FreshTomato should be dropping in the next day or two. I'm running a locally-compiled test build of it at the moment on one of my E4200 v1s. The FT development and build environment is much easier to work with.

FT is Broadcom-only. Not sure if any other custom firmware is available for MediaTek devices besides DD-WRT. That RT-N12VP B1 is so new, I can't find any data on it quickly.

what DD-WRT firmware build you can advise for this model?
That's kind of difficult to say without 100% of the hardware data, especially flash and ram chipset info and sizes, among other things. And I wouldn't attempt flashing another device's firmware file without means of recovery or serial console attached.
Anyway newer RT-N12 VP B1 has some king of protection, it doesnt allow to flash third party firmware via firmware upgrade.
I have been trying to flash Tomato-Phoenix - no success.
If i am right Tomato Phoenix intended for Mediatek chips and should fit my router without arguing but instead i get error message.

That seems to be the norm these days, manufacturer's locking down their firmware to reject 3rd party firmware. Not sure if you can use any kind of recovery process to override that, but that would be the only option if you can't flash via OEM firmware upgrade
And yes, Tomato Phoenix is for MediaTek hardware. From what I read, it's a port of OpenWRT with a Tomato webUI. I am just unsure of what specific hardware is supported.

Actually check out https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=275902&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=180 A easy way to do is to go into recovery mode (turn off the router, hold in the reset switch with a paperclip while powering it up, when the power light blinks on 5 seconds off 5 seconds release and go to 192.168.1.1 and flash it that way. There is a little more too it like clearing the settings but it works. Another method is to downgrade the ASUS firmware, then flash via the usual config pages.
I just installed older dd-wrt builds but i am missing SNMP.
I want to use this router to monitor traffic.
Router:
ASUS RT-N12 D1
Tested: K2.6 Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r39267 big (03/22/19) - SNMP not available
Tested: K3.X Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r39267 Mega (03/22/19) - SNMP not available
Also, maybe a mod will kindly split your hijack out of this thread and edit the subject of the OP to reflect that this thread is not for your router, it is for a currently unsupported device.
EDIT - The following tech data confirms earlier unknown details of the RT-N12 VP B1 / RT-N12+ B1 (and others):
