Glad you solved it Smile

Your router is wifi 5, however wifi 6 is usually compatible with wifi 5, so it should work but without the benefits of wifi 6 (although a lot of that is marketing speak)

I like my current router but would recommend a good Wifi 6 with good coverage like i have with my current router just to use a WAP that is good with DD-WRT?

I like my current one because i have a large house and it covers 99% of it.

Wifi 6 is mostly marketing speak and does not give you any better coverage.

It could get you (a bit) better throughput if you are close to the router.

The R7800 is one of the best very good range and throughput.

There are currently no wifi 6 / 802.11ax devices supported by DD-WRT:

Announcement: 802.11 AX Supported routers- W.I.P.

DD-WRT and Wifi 6 (AX)

DD-WRT Router Database

DD-WRT wifi6 support

Cheers as a follow and general question about Networking
I have the following
WiFI 192.168.23.1
OPNsense Box 192.168.23.2

Range 192.168.23.1 - 254
Dynamic 192.168.23.10 - 99
Static Reservation 192.168.23.100 -199

Had a few Wifi Dropouts and not able to get to the IP address 192.168.23.1
Some suggest i should have OPNsesnse 192.168.23.1
Then WiFi2 192.168.23.2
This gives total overview to OPNsense i am told does this sound correct ?

Frankly it does not matter at all.

Although it is good practice to give your main router/server the .1 address and then other routers/server 2-10.

But as said it does not matter at all.

If you decide to change it make sure you have the Gateway and Local DNS on the WAP point to the OPNsense box

Having Wifi problems is usually caused by sub optimal settings, see: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=324014

HI yes i set up like this when you told me few weeks ago.
Should i set the WiFi router as a static IP along with the OPN box in the static reservation area?

You can do that although it does not do anything.

But it is a reminder you have something already running on that IP address so you will not use it for anything else and if you forgot the IP address you can look it up there Smile

HI Guys

This has been running ok but i have noticed a slight issue which it has always had even when it was my router.

SO just checking if the following issues is normal or can it be resolved.
I have 2 SSID as normal 2.4 and 5 all work fine and the as per expected 5 is the quickest.

But more than often when you scan the 5 takes 30 to 60 seconds to show up!
This is the same on every device that uses Wifi once it shows it connects no issue its just the delay which is annoying.

Open laptop like 5m away from it and in my laptop list it takes 30 to 60 seconds to show up. So my laptop connects to slower 2.4 also same with all IOS devices.

Can it be fixed or any settings to change?

And we cannot see your advanced settings. Possibly related to BI and DTIM settings, but we have no clue what they are.
