What should I modify in DD-WRT so that the data corresponds to reality?

First thing I would recommend is upgrading to the current release and possibly start over with a fresh install of YaMON; definitely recommend upgrading and resetting to defaults and reconfiguring from scratch.

After a power failure, checking the filesystem integrity of your USB stick would be a good idea. If you rerun the yamon installer, make sure to use the hacked/tweaked installer I attached to a post earlier in this thread or it will fail for sure.

Some dd-wrt settings need to be turned off for yamon to work properly. The yamon installation instructions are still online.

"A number of firmware settings are known to prevent YAMon from collecting accurate traffic data - the most common recent culprit has been the Shortcut Forwarding Engine (SFE) option which was added in DD-WRT build 33006+ (and is enabled by default). Other known offenders include `enhanced privacy` tools (like PrivOxy) and Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) settings - see PrivOxy & UPnP. Apparently `Cut Through Forwarding` is similar to SFE so it too will be problematic but I don't have a lot of details on that yet... stay tuned!. These options *must* be disabled if you want to get accurate results from YAMon!"

Is Yamon still a supported tool? I've tried to install both 3.4.7 and 4.0.7 using the install script and manually and I seem to be hitting some broken links. The install script errors out when it hits the page defined in the script and when I do the manual install and then run the setup, I get a "not found" error when I can plainly see the setup file in the directory.

No it's not supported. Version 4.0.x was never fully finished and stable. Version 3.4.x was stable and continued to be used for a long time after Al deserted us.

I personally stopped using Yamon since I no longer have a monthly usage cap.

Gotcha.
I was trying to get it set up so I could see what device was using my bandwidth. I don't have a usage cap, but I have limited bandwidth at the moment until they get the fiber ran and so I'm just trying to set some priority based on what is using the bandwidth up.

Thanks for the info. I will keep looking and look at the hacked installer.

I too don't have a data usage cap but Internet speeds have increased over the years from ISPs and I found that YAMon had a BIG impact on router's performance and stopped using it.

I worked my way through the Netgear family until I was using the R9000 on a Gigabit cable feed.

Yamon 3.47 uses 5-10% of the cpu and the 9000 performance doesn't waver.

Wan side is Gb ethernet and LAN side is SFP fiber to a 10 GB network.

Excess cpu horsepower is never a problem.

Installed YAMon 3.4.7 on my DD-WRT. Haven't really gone through the collected data yet however so far saw no errors or other issues in the UI.

Wondering if there are alternatives to YAMon that are maintained?

I found this alternatives link but haven't yet tried the options listed ( It's OpenWRT based but guessing should work for DD-WRT. ):
