Hi All,
I thought I'd be upgrading from my Trendnet TEW-818DRU by getting a Netgear R8000, but so far, my Trendnet TEW-818DRU gets better WAN internet speeds via a 2017 build of dd-wrt than my Netgear R8000 running r50963.
My modem (Motorola MB8611) is getting 1 GPBS from Xfinity, which is what I'm paying for, but when it gets down to my router, I'm only getting 600 MBPS via LAN on the Trendnet TEW-818DRU and 450 MBPS on the Netgear R8000. So, is it possible to reach and maintain 1 GBPS on these old routers running dd-wrt? If so, how? I am already using SFE on both routers. I've tried everything I can think of and searched these forums for ideas including setting the affinity to something different for the WAN port, but nothing has helped.
If it's not possible to get 1 GBPS on these routers, is there a router that can do it and run dd-wrt?
What about the R9000? Anyone getting 1 GBPS on it?
I'm talking LAN ports / direct connection to the router. Not WiFi... don't care about WiFi speeds as much.

There are not many routers which can reach 1 Gb/s let alone 1 GB/s (which is 10 Gb/s) without tricks.
The Netgear R7800 comes close, the Netgear R9000 can do it with some ease.
Routers with less processing power can use some tricks to bypass the firewall for established traffic, this has its own drawbacks as you can read at: https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Hardware, but it does speed up traffic.
On Basic Setup page you can enable Cut Trough Forwarding CTF and Flow Acceleration FA that will speed things up considerably.
Yes, I tried CTF, and it didn't work any better than SFE.
CTF and Flow Acceleration FA wasn't an option in the UI despite numerous router reboots after setting CTF on the R8000 using r50963.
The Xfinity technician tested my line and showed that it is capable of 1300 MBPS, but my modem is only getting 1000 MBPS since that is what I'm limited to. But as stated previously, I never get that via any of my routers running dd-wrt.

My Netgear R7800 is doing almost 900 Mb/s without any acceleration and my Netgear R6400v2 and R7000 do about 850 Mb/s but with CTF + FA enabled.
But there are some circumstances where it might not be available as outlined in the wiki, e.g. PPPoE WAN connection, maybe that is the case in your situation?

The R8000 is the same as the R7000. What's differ is that R8000 have a second processor for the wifi. It will not speed up wired connections. It will probably perform better with many wifi clients simultaneously.

R7000 and R8000 has the same processor. A 1Ghz dual core. The difference, R8000 has a second radio which the R7000 does not have.

I read the wiki several times now, and I cannot understand why FA won't show up. CTF does.

Same here.
I even reset all settings back to default, set WAN to automatic, rebooted the router, made sure QoS was disabled, made sure PPPoE is disabled, rebooted the router again, and still no FA option. Looks like FA isn't supported on the R8000 despite having the correct CPU?
There is a ticket here where someone said FA doesn't work on the R8000:
