Router/Version: Netgear R7800
File/Kernel: DD-WRT v3.0-r50906 std (11/18/22)
Previous/Reset: R50841. No reset.
Mode/Status: Wired access points, 2.4 and 5GHz static channels, WPA3, Vanilla firmware
Issues/Errors:
Upgraded 2 R7800s via GUI from 50841. After initial reboot, the devices pinged for about 10 seconds, then stopped pinging. They also stopped responding to SSH and HTTPS. Weirdly, however, clients were able to connect via wifi (at least on 5GHz, didn't have any set to use 2.4GHz). After a hard power cycle, both came up and are functioning normally. I've rebooted both a few times just to make sure and there has been no repeat. It may be just me but the fact that both devices had the same issue makes me wonder.
I did not have the issue on my WRT1900AC, but that's a different forum _________________ __________________________

The routers HOST key has changed to another/newer format.
The HOST key is with what the router identifies itself, apparently that is "confusing" Putty
!!! USE ALL CAUTION WHEN USING REGEDIT !!!
I'm using PuTTY Release 0.62 with Windows 10Pro x64. I went into regedit I deleted all host keys, do not delete the (Default) key.
On my system I found it using the find "SimonTatham" (without quotes) in regedit...

For Windows 10 and WinSCP v5.21.5 same thing removing with regedit, I deleted all host keys, do not delete the (Default) key.

I've seen this on previous f/w builds, too, but keeping the Bandwidth page running for a long time will kill httpd. Consequently the GUI also stops responding.
SSH access still works, so it is easy to get httpd running again without rebooting, provided you updated the host key, of course, which I did.

It's best to just not leave that tab open. There are alternatives to that "feature", but that would require the community to petition the powers and principalities of DD-WRT. _________________ "The woods are lovely, dark and deep,

I haven't observed httpd to crash in other situations than what I mentioned.
It doesn't seem like a very big deal and what is more important ... the router keeps running, IMO.
A user who is interested enough to stare at the bandwidth display, surely ... I'm not saying anything
Perhaps somebody in the know can file a bug report, in case this is a new thing.

Strange thing about my episode is....I wasn't running the bandwidth graph. I wasn't even logged into the GUI. The "freeze up" happened sometime overnight. All computers and Streaming was working when I went to bed...in the morning....all computers would connect to the router....it showed my ISP IP address but no errors in the syslog. "No Internet, Secured" connection was displayed on each computer's wifi status. I'm just not 100% certain it's related to the BW graph display now.
I haven't seen the issue since going back to 50841. Since this is Thanksgiving week in the US...I will give this build another try when my job schedule lightens mid-week and I can be around to monitor it again.

I updated one unit with an older build like yours and I had to reboot or power cycle twice for it work fine. _________________ Home Network on Telus 1Gb PureFibre - 10GbE Copper Backbone

Just my two cents, I have r7800 (r50906) also, I have a little Win10 box that I send my syslog output too. This little Win10 box has an uptime of maybe 100 days, I keep a MS edge window also open to the bandwidth monitor tab and haven't seen this issue. It's the only page that is opened. Edge using only about 220 mb of RAM. When I update the router the syslog and edge windows just reconnects and keeps flowing. One thing when I update firmware, the Edge page still outputs the graphs, but will display the previous version at the header tab of the browser and the header lines with date, ip address, uptime until I refresh the Edge window. The longest I have gone before firmware update was maybe 3 weeks.
I am wondering what browser you might be using I would like to install it and see if I can recreate the issue. _________________ Router/Version: Netgear R7800

I have updated 3x r7800 remotely, they all 3 had to be rebooted by a person present.
Otherwise no problems.
