I have an R7800 running on DDWRT v 50595. What I am looking for is to spin up a Guest Wifi network on wlan1.1 that would is isolated from the rest. The R7800 is just acting as a AP and not the primary router. When I get the Guest Wifi up and running, no devices are being assigned IP address via the Guest Wifi.

Below are some of the settings that I have done on the router from the attachments.

Setup -> Advnaced Routing -> Operating Mode -> Router has been set.

I created a seperate bridge br1 that takes in the wlan1.1 in its assignment.

The Network Config for br1 and Multiple DHCP Servers have been left alone, as I read that we need to use dnsmasq to assign ips to clients on Virtual Interfaces when this router has not been used as the DHCP server.

This config still doesn't work and IP addresses are not handled down to the clients that connect to the SSID on wlan1.1. Can someone please help me on what I'm missing ?

Somehow some screenshots are mising. The additional options in dnsmasq settings as follows:

interface=br1
dhcp-option=br1,3,192.168.45.1
dhcp-range=br1,192.168.45.100,192.168.45.200,255.255.255.0,24h

Since you say the R7800 is a completely separate unit from the router, set it up as a guest router. Its like a regular router, but its WAN port is plugged into one of the LAN ports on the back of the primary router. I would also disable the firewall on the GUEST router.

I will be using my own ip addresses for the sake of the example here.

MAIN ROUTER would be 192.168.1.1

Guest router would be 192.168.x.1

X being whatever number you want.

Thanks for the response. That is exactly what is being done here.

The primary router is 192.168.40.87 and this R7800 has been setup as WAP or Guest router like you stated, with IP being 192.168.40.83

The dnsmasq custom config is not needed, everything can be set via GUI.

Please see the following document from egc, section "VAP on WAP" it explains how to configure it correctly.

for a Guest Wifi you can follow that tutorial (tested 2 days ago on r50595, without QoS, and it seems ok) :
https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Guest_WiFi_%2B_abuse_control_for_beginners

but the egc guide is great too Very Happy

Is there an index of the EGC tutorials collection ?
thanks
