I ran some tests using Ookla Speedtest on my Netgear R9000 early this morning (less interference in my household) and here is what i found based on DD-WRT v3.0-r50595 std (10/23/22).
--->2.4GHz- There is a noticeable drop in Download of 2.4GHz on DDWRT. On average, Vanilla is slower than DDWRT by around 15mbps using same local server. (But that does not bother me since only my IoT devices are on 2.4GHz).
--->5GHz- Speed on 5GHz on DDWRT was good so i did not test 5GHz on Vanilla.
--->Both 2.4GHz and %GHz on DDWRT are stable (Not so in a several firmware versions back)
One thing that impresses me is R9000 handling encryption. Under OpenVPN, on average, download speed on Ethernet is slowed by around 8mbps only. Did not setup test OpenVPN on wifi.

R9000 uses Qualcom Atheros QCA9984 for a/b/g/n and ac.
Connection speeds:
--- ISP nominal at: 115mbps down - 20mbps up
--- QoS locked at: 112mbps down - 19.75mbps up
