Router/Version: Linksys EA6350
File/Kernel: Linux 4.4.302-st25 #8017 SMP Sun Oct 23 15:30:37 +07 2022 armv7l
Previous/Reset: YES
Mode/Status: OK
Issues/Errors: OK

Prior firmware was a pretty old factory firmware, did a webflash using that firmware directly to the r50595

Newer factory firmware has the firmware check in it but the old version on the router did not

The router would not come up until I unplugged it, held WPS button in, plugged it in, waited 30 seconds. This wiped the nvram and then the router rebooted 2 times and then started running the dd-wrt firmware.

As with most/all of these series, once the dd-wrt firmware is operational the power light on the router shuts off.

Router/Version: Linksys EA6200
File/Kernel: Linux 4.4.302-st25 #8017 SMP Sun Oct 23 15:30:37 +07 2022 armv7l
Previous/Reset: YES
Mode/Status: OK
Issues/Errors: YES

Router was running factory firmware version 1.1.41.164830 was unable to webflash r50595 to it using Linksys webinterface, nor any other firmware version. Updated router to Linksys version 1.1.41.188556 and was still unable to flash r50595 to it - the flash went through the entire upload process and said the upload was complete and yet still booted into the Linksys code. Even selecting the Revert to Prior Firmware from the Linksys interface failed as it just sent the router into a bootloop. Finally tried flashing r44715 via Linksys webinterface, that succeeded although router booted into Linksys firmware from backup partition and had to select Revert to Prior from the Linksys interface to get it to boot into r44715

SCP'd r50595 to /tmp/root of router and at the router command line issued

mtd -f write linksys-ea6350-webflash.bin linux
erase nvram
reboot

Then router booted into r50595. Repeated the above commands to get r50595 into the second partition. Seems in the newer dd-wrt code the linux2 partition does not exist anymore, only the linux partition and the router seems to switch between partitions according to whether nvram was cleared or not.

I suspect that because r50595 is slightly larger (maybe padded out to make mtd quit complaining about unaligned filesize of firmware?) that the webinterface in the Linux firmware on the EA6200 cannot flash it?? It also looks like Linksys never did put a signature check in their firmware for the EA600 (and I guess also in the EA6350)

The EA8500 is Atheros/Qualcomm based, you are posting in the Broadcom forum.

See the forum guidelines with helpful pointers about how to research your router, where and what firmware to download, where and how to post and many other helpful tips:

Router/Version: Linksys EA6900
File/Kernel: Linux 4.4.302-st25 #8017 SMP Sun Oct 23 15:30:37 +07 2022 armv7l

I started with a EA6900 which had auto-upgraded itself to the latest Linksys firmware, this has a check in it that prohibits alternate firmware.
Using the Linksys tftp.exe utility I power-cycled the router and uploaded the factory FW_EA6900_1.1.42.161129_prod_DDWRT_upgrade.img which is an older image that does not have a check for alternate firmware in it.

Unfortunately, however, the current linksys-ea6900-webflash.bin is around 26MB which appears to be much too large for the webflash in the linksys firmware to successfully upload the firmware.

So I instead uploaded the linksys-ea6400-numinit-super-hacky-smaller-version.bin file using the linksys firmware then the router rebooted into this firmware. Using this I then was able to scp the current r50595 to /tmp/root then executed the commands:

mtd -f write linksys-ea6900-webflash.bin linux2
mtd -f write linksys-ea6900-webflash.bin linux
erase nvram
reboot

The router rebooted 2 times then began running the dd-wrt firmware.

LINKSYS EA8500 with dd-wrt Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r50595 std (10/23/22) working great, since I had installed it 04 days back, no drop time, no issues. The router is working in Gateway mode, with services running of vpn on selected network WLAN0 only (the other wan and wlan1 without vpn. VPN provider expressvpn), samba, dlna, adblocker all on one router simultaneously with new build.
