Hey guys,
So I have a wrt
3200 running v3.0-r47608 that is setup in client mode and connects to my other home router (1900acs v2) on 5GHz.
It works flawlessly and is able to see the other router (1900acs v2) in the site survey.
When I travel, I would like to use my cell phone (Samsung Galaxy S21+) Hotspot and have my 3200 connect to it via client mode.
However, it is never able to connect using the 5GHz network and neither is the Hotspot ssid able to show up in the site survey.
When I use client mode in 2.4GHz and switch my Hotspot to support 2.4GHz then it's able to connect without issue, however 2.4 is too slow for what I need it for (setup openvpn client on the 3200).
Anyone know why 5GHz has been such a pain to setup?
I've disabled the security mode so we can elimate that.
All othe regular devices such as other mobile devices and tablets can see and connect to the 5GHz phone Hotspot without any issues. It's just my dd-wrt router that can't.
Is it the build I'm running or is it my Samsung Galaxy S21+ that's the problem?
Sorry I forgot to mention that's what I did initially.
Security on the Hotspot and router with WPA2 (not wpa2/3).
Again it works with the 1900acs router connecting to the 3200 but not with the mobile Hotspot.
The reason I mentioned that I disabled security completely was to make sure that the issue was not security/encryption related.

You can configure security on the Hotspot, use WPA2.
also set only WPA2-Personal on the router with CCMP-128 (AES)
Do not use WAP3 or WPA2/WPA3.
It might be that WPA3 on the router could be problematic
I was to suggest the same Security Mode WPA with only WPA2 Personal, CCMP-128 (AES) checked, but egc is fast.
