Hello,

I've successfully established a WDS setup between an Archer C7 WDS-AP and a C7 and A7 WDS-Station.
everything is working wireless on the WDS-Stations, so far so good.
Configuration was done over 5G in AC only, bandwidths up to 1300Mbits were observed in the wireless status page. WiFi connection to both WDS Station testet and connected to the internet

Code:

#TEXTDRAWING#

           ------------ (WDS Station)
(WDS AP)---|
           ------------ (WDS Station)

#TEXTDRAWING#

The thing is I need to distribute my network over more than 300 meters and need to redistribute the wifi over at least on "hop".

Code:

#TEXTDRAWING#

(WDS AP)----------- (WDS AP/ WDS Station/ WDS Relay...whatever) --------- WDS Station

#TEXTDRAWING#

is this kind of architecture possible in a WDS application??

unfortunately I was not able to establish a Mesh 802.11s configuration which would solve that problem anyways

A7 --> r50308
C7s --> r50274

Yes, hops are possible by creating a Virtual Access Point (VAP) using the WDS AP as the mode.

Please note, each hope effectively halves the bandwidth. So if you are able to get 20MB/s at the first router, expect ~10MB/s at the second, ~5MB/s at the third, etc. In reality, I have usually experienced a slight drop on the second and third routers but not noticeable enough to matter to me.

The process for extending WDS coverage is explained in the WDS wiki page: https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/WDS_Linked_router_network#Note_about_WDS_and_different_chip_manufacturers

(Go to the Qualcomm Atheros Section, Step 10, you are looking to Daisy chain WDS routers).

Thank you all setup and running. Bandwidth shortage is acceptable for my purpose.
Thanks!
