I am having trouble getting my Linsys E4200 to connect to my iPhone 12's (iOS 16) hotspot.

I have completely reset the router and flashed the most up to date firmware (r50176)

Following the guide here: https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater

After logging in using LAN, I set wl0 to Repeater Bridge and set the SSID to the same as my iPhone's hotspot.
I set wl0 wireless security to WPA2-PSK and CCMP-128 (AES) and add my hotspot password as the key.

Under basic setup, I change the router IP in case it might have the same as the iPhone, to 192.168.44.1

I then Save and Apply.

Firstly, there's now no DHCP as I can only reconnect if I manually set my computer IP to the 192.168.44.x range

But the router does not connect to my iPhone. I have the iPhone hotspot on and the settings page opened.
Am I doing this right?

I saw some firmware has an actual iPhone Hotspot setting, but my E4200 doesn't seem to have that.

Thanks

Repeater *bridge* is completely different from Repeater.

You should choose Repeater and not Repeater *bridge*

Thank you, and sorry for using the wrong forum. I assumed it was more to do with settings than hardware specific, but I guess everything is actually hardware specific.

I think I misread the comparison between Client Bridge and Repeater Bridge as being between Repeater and Repeater Bridge, so I understand now that Bridge isn't what's needed here.
I have it now set as Repeater, and my computer correctly get's assigned an IP address from the routers DHCP.

The problem is, the router doesn't seem to be making any attempt to connect to my iPhone's hotspot.
I have Maximise Compatibility enabled on my iPhone.
The Repeater WiKi says to use WPA2-AES when possible, but that option isn't listed.

I cannot afford Apple products so cannot help you with that.

But security should be WPA2-PSK and CCMP-128 (AES) and on the Apple side that should also be allowed.

You might need to tweak the Network Mode but usually "Mixed" would work.

My EA6900 router connects fine to my Samsung phones hotspot but a different router and a different phone Sad

It's working Smile

Thank you very much.

As soon as I changed the security to WPA2-PSK and CCMP-128 (AES) it connected Smile

Thanks again.
