I have spent many hours trying to get this to work and it won't. Actually the buffalo router was utilizing the internet coming from the Netgear Nighthawk M1 MR1100 for the 1st minute i ever connected and never again since.
The MR1100 has poor wifi range so assigning a home router to do it is much better. I need the extra ethernet ports anyway. I still use this old buffalo router whr-G54S to this day and it has mostly worked great.
The netgear MR1100 can be set as a modem by turning IP passthrough on which is what i did. Along with turning DHCP off and ethernet standby off. Also I set the gateway IP to 192.168.0.1 so no conflict with the buffalo router.
It just does not work I have under basic setup wan connection type "AUTO CONFIG DHCP". The IP gateway is the default 192.168.1.1. The WAN IP is 10.x.x... I know about the CGNAT, but with both routers having different gateway IPs it should work and it does not.
That did not work. I am on dd-wrt.v24_mini_generic.bin from February 2021. I tried the STD version and nothing worked so i went back to the mini which has been one of the best firmware's i have used.
Please help how I can get this to work in detail thanks in advance.

Post screenshost, no wider than 768 pixels, or linked images from a hosting site to show us exactly what the configurations you tried are. I have a feeling you're missing something, but I can't draw a picture or advise anything if I don't know specifics.
MR1100 LAN IP should be 192.168.1.1
WHR-G54S LAN IP should be 192.168.2.1
You do not need to add a gateway or local dns address on basic setup page on WHR-G54S.
This is starting from reset to defaults. If you are using static leases, please ensure that you are using valid characters, otherwise dnsmasq will not start up. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

I did as suggested and the internet worked for 1 minute just like my very first attempt and then it was gone.
I set the netgear back to 192.168.1.1. The buffalo router to 192.168.2.1 and that only works if i connect it to the netgear. Otherwise i cant reach the dd-wrt page. I already reset the buffalo router to defaults so only edit is that local ip address entry for 192.168.2.1.

Post screenshots of the applicable configuration pages in DD-WRT and your Netgear. I can't visualize what you've done that isn't working. There should be *no* reason for this to be broken. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

Now this makes sense. You have IP pass-thru (bridge) mode enabled on the Netgear. Did you enable ethernet data offloading, too?
Quote:
Enable Ethernet Data Offloading From a Web Browser
To enable Ethernet data offloading:
1.From a computer that is connected to your network, launch a web browser.
2.Enter http://attwifimanagerorhttp://192.168.1.1.
A login page displays.
3.Enter the administrator login password.
The password is case-sensitive.
The dashboard displays.
4.Select SETTINGS > Setup > Data Offloading.
The Data Offloading page displays.
5.Select the Enable check box.
6.Select the Ethernet radio button.
By default, the Ethernet radio button is selected.
7.Click the Apply button.Y
our settings are saved.
I also tried with ethernet offloading activated and the buffalo router still cannot utilize the internet coming from the netgear router. It receives the 10.x... IP from att just like when offloading is off. I got the same result. Not sure what gives.

Well, I don't have either device in front of me to surmise what the problem is, but if your Buffalo is a fresh reset to defaults, and the Netgear is configured for ethernet offloading properly, it *should* work just fine. I don't know if the USB tethering+charging setting is wrong in your screenshot, I don't know if ethernet standby being disabled is wrong, etc. Sorry I could not be of any more assistance.
EDIT: I found this video which *might* be helpful:
It pretty much says all you have to do is select IP pass-through, turn off the DHCP, and disable ethernet standby on the MR1100, and it should work without any further settings. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

Looks like netgear's role as a modem just doesnt work. SO i gave in and decided to let netgear serve as modem and router and set appropriate settings for that. Then buffalo serves as a switch so dchp off and set wan to serve as lan. That is the setup that worked for me. Then wifi just left as AP and it can have different wireless security than netgear. Now wifi devices can connect to either one so wifi device to buffalo router receives IP from netgear relayed by buffalo router from the ethernet connection and it works well.

Well, if you feel like trying it, upgrade to the dd-wrt.v24_std_generic.bin from the version your Buffalo is on, and then add this to the firewall script under Administration -> Commands tab -> Save firewall:
Thanks for the input guys i am done trying to get the netgear to be just a modem and buffalo the router. Using buffalo as a wired and wireless switch works well. I think this is a better setup anyway as now wifi service is coming from both devices instead of just from the buffalo if somehow i got the original idea to work.
Buffalo is outside the dhcp range of the netgear connected via ethernet and within the subnet. The netgear wifi 5ghz only and buffalo G only. I am satisfied with the results. I think the netgear talks better with the cgnat coming from att that is why this setup works and the other didn't.
