Output from nvram command attached. I take that port 4 is the WAN port, and it needs to be associated with vlan 1 like ports 0-3? If so, can this be done via the GUI?

I can certainly try the K3X build as well, just was a bit hesitant to do so, based on the risks mentioned above.

I would try K3X build, some things just do not work on the older Kernels.

Edit: my E2000 running K3X (which actually is Kernel 4.4.) build 48141 has swconfig:

root@E2000:~# swconfig list
Found: switch0 - bcm53115

Upgraded to
DD-WRT v3.0-r48305 mega (02/09/22)

afterwards, did 30-30-30, then configured
WAN connection type : disabled
advanced routing > operating mode = "router"

output of "swconfig dev switch0 show" attached. Still the wan port cannot be used same as the other ports

Is vlan2 assigned to br0 on the networking tab? Is wan port also shown as disabled on the networking tab?

network tab screenshot attached.
If I click on add under "assign to bridge", I dont have an option for vlan2 under interfaces, just vlan1

Reading this thread helped
https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=329687&sid=566ba65aa28cc63419fcaccb502eab54

I did need to manually add the association of br0 to vlan2 though. Final snapshot attach which worked for me

@pongc those screenshots indicate an ancient and unsupported dd-wrt version.

Thanks @the-joker for the note. My version shows as "DD-WRT v3.0-r48296 mega (02/05/22)" which I flashed earlier this year in hopes to address the issue where the SSID stops broadcasting intermittently. Before that, I had a ~2018 version.

Since the DD-WRT upgrade process often requires a bit of time/research, I typically take the "dont fix it if its not broken" approach for my dd-wrt boxes. I just posted the above for reference so I can find it in the future if needed. (and may help others)

I can relate to the its not broken dont fix it approach, but it is broken, security patches alone is enough for me to state such.

As for if there maybe any bugs on newer builds on your specific machine, it is unknown as many issues are only perceived with some specific settings, while without such you may not not experience any. Its a mixed bag, sure to be a risk, but nothing that cant be undone.

Thanks for verifying that assigning vlan2 to br0 (and apparently nothing else) works in place of the previous fullswitch function on Broadcom, at least. I have about a dozen of these routers (as well as a number of other Linksys E-Series Broadcom MIPS devices) in the inventory now. Three of the E4200s have been playing guinea pig for some things I (we) have been working on over the past few years.
