Hi @ll,

I'm looking for a replacement for my old, good and stable WRT54GL.
I only need 2,4GHz and 4 Lan Ports (Gbit would be nice).
It should be not so expensive and can be a used one.
With DD-WRT compatibility Wink in Germany.

Who can help Smile

EDIT:
I had also an Archer C8 v1, and could become another one for nearly 30€. Would be good, or there better solutions?

There are several threads about this on the forum in the general questions forum:

I would always look for a router with 128 MB flash and 256 MB RAM

Broadcom is closed source so not a favourite of the community but routers like the Netgear R6400v1, R6400v2, R6700v3, R7000, Asus AC68U etc. are still reliable work horses

But my favourite router is also a Netgear R7800

The 7800 is too expensive and oversized for my SmartHome Wink
I'm on an R7000 for my Archer C8 and an R6400 for the WRT54.
I could become an R6400 v1 for 38€ (today), also good choise?

THX for you help Smile

That is not bad the R6400v1 has a dual core 800 MHz CPU, the R6400v2 (and the R7000) have the same CPU but clocked at 1000 MHz

The R7000 has some slightly different radios compared to the R6400 (v1 and v2) in theory it should be better but in real life not much difference.

I administer a lot of R6400 and R7000 for friends/neighbours/family

I read it, the v2 had only 200MHz more CPU, but thad should be no problem. I also think there is no v3, so I think in your first post you mean R6400 v1 / v2 Wink

THX alot!

Bought the 6400, pickup later and will flash this evening Wink
The R7000 will look later again, and must be send, because there is nothing in my nearly range.

Sorry I meant an R6700v3 which is equivalent to an R6400v2

The R6400v2 install guide (which can be used for the R6400v1 but you have to get the correct file for the R6400v1):
