I am super grateful and appreciative for the constant new builds of ddwrt. This product is superior to the software router manufacturers attempt to force us to use. Thank you to all who keep ddwrt modern and working great!
My question is this: When should I install a new build?
In the past, I've used the philosophy "If it aint broke, don't fix". However, I've been slapped on the risk for using builds that are too old. If I am not experiencing any problems and not seeking to use a new feature that a new build provides, how do I know I should upgrade? Or should I just always install the latest build when it's released? _________________ Linksys WRT32X | DD-WRT v3.0-r51937 std (03/05/23) | macOS Ventura

No you should not install every new build, We would welcome that if you also share your findings in the build thread, someone has to test it
But from a user perspective it is not necessary.
Once in a while a critical security problem arises which warrants an immediate update but that would not only involve DDWRT but a lot more so probably will be in the media, however there are often minor security and other fixes so I would update maybe 3-4 times a year and once a year I do a full reset and rebuild manually but that is just me _________________ Routers:Netgear R7000, R6400v1, R6400v2, EA6900 (XvortexCFE), E2000, E1200v1, WRT54GS v1.
