Many thanks for the help from all! I made a few mistakes but I got rid of the IDEXX firmware and am now happily running the latest WRT. I wound up having to use gtkterm on Debian in order to send the break character to uboot and get its prompt. Then I was able to get to work and have success.
Thanks again.
Hi, I have a 600dhp with idexx firmware too
Can you help me with the steps to remove that idexx firmware?
I want to install stock buffalo firmware or dd-wrt
Thank you!!
Does anyone have a simplified method for updating the firmware for these IDEXX locked units? I can understand things up to a point, but the method described in this thread gets a bit complicated for my veterinarian mind. I have ine I could really use in my new clinic and a straightforward, non-technical approach would be nice to utilize.

For one, the link Malachi posted redirects to a self-hosted GitLab which requires a login. Luckily, someone sent the link to web-dot-archive-dot-org wayback machine:
This procedure requires serial recovery; I don't think you can just TFTP a properly edited file. I have no way to offer another simpler method without one of these in hand. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

I'm wondering if doing the TFTP flash method like the WZR-HP-G300NH would work here using an unedited factory-to-ddwrt firmware image. But the fact remains that Doc is looking for something much simpler than serial recovery:

I just received a similar item. I called IDEXX tech support and they told me the default password: "Idexx123"
the user name is admin.
This worked and I was able to upgrade the firmware to standard DD-WRT.
The Idexx default router address is 192.168.222.1 . admin/Idexx123 is the username/password. Password is case sensitive. Just used this information to upgrade one of these to r49492 tonight to coordinate my pis.
