To save other the time I wasted tonight:

Chromecast Gen 3 apparently won't connect with WPA2 Personal with SHA256 and CCMP-256.

Chromecast Gen3 would connect with WPA2 Personal and CCMP-128 (AES)

Per a doc published in Dec 2021: Chromecast does not have support for WPA 3

Linksys EA8500 with DD-WRT v3.0-r49467 std (07/09/22)

Many clients wont support such, but thanks for the heads up, at least we have a definitive list of one that we know for sure doesnt Wink
