Ok guys I've been reading and all morning and failing to get this thing to work as intended. I'd like to use DD-WRT to make my old router act as a wireless adapter for my PC.

Old Router: TP-Link Archer A7 1750 v5.0
I successfully installed DD-WRT using factory-to-ddwrt.bin dated 7/22/2022
I successfully updated firmware to tplink_archer-a7-v5.bin dated 7/22/2022

I am following the guide: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Client_Mode

So, I can do everything in the guide, but I notice when I go to set my Static IP as 192.168.2.1 that upon clicking "Save" I get a pop-up error saying IP value is illegal.

Screenshots of the steps I take are attached.
Wireless Basic Settings - I only change the 5 GHz channel to station because the guide says to only choose 1. I disable the 2.4 GHz SSID Broadcast.

Wireless Security - I change both to WPA2/AES and type in same password as my primary router. I've also tried plain ole WPA as that is what the primary router describes it's encryption as.

Basic Setup - I change local IP address to 192.168.2.1
and gateway to 192.168.1.254 (This is the IP address I use to get to primary router, it is provided by AT&T)

I click save and then I get the error message. If I hit apply changes at this point, then I'm unable to get to the client router using 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1 in my address bar and I have to manually reset my router to try all over again. Anything obviously wrong here? Thank you in advance!

If your AT&T router has a DHCP server, set WAN to Automatic-DHCP. No need to use static IP, but if you do, it has to be in the same subnet as the AT&T router. The local IP of your router depends on the IP subnet of the AT&T router. For example, if the AT&T router LAN IP is 192.168.1.1, then your LAN IP of your A7 should be 192.168.2.1.
