Hello, I didn't see anyone ask about this one before, but that may be because it seems to be more common in Israel than anywhere else.

I'd like to know if it's even possible to get this model working, and if so, which firmware should I use?

Here is a gallery with pictures of the internals:
https://imgur.com/a/Vp1r29M

What I can gather from a look inside:
- D-Link DSL-G256DG Wireless VSDL router REV-A1
- The Wifi Chipset appears to be BCM4360 (BCM43602KMLG).
- The Flash Memory appears to be ESMT F59L1G81LA , but when I looked this up, it says that it's 1Gbit (128MB). Does that even make sense? https://www.esmt.com.tw/upload/pdf/ESMT/datasheets/F59L1G81LA(2Y).pdf
- The RAM appears to be SK hynix H5TQ2G63GFR , which appears to be 2Gbit (256MB) https://www.skhynix.com/products.view.do?vseq=1639&cseq=74 . Does that make sense?

Additional Info from the web-based GUI:
- 2 Symmetric CPU threads
- Build Timestamp: 06292018
- Software Version: OI_1.00.15
- Serial Number: SY6E1H7002907

Misc. Info:
- The "most recent" firmware update (DSL-G256DGOI_GE_1.00.00_06282017 from https://www.support.dlink.co.il/dsl-g256dg-setup-page) is an apparently uncompressed file that is 22.63 MB large

Can this router work with DD-WRT at all, and if so, which firmware should I be using?

Thanks for your help!

There is no DD-WRT support for modems.

Does this mean that the wifi router part wouldn't work either, or just that the modem would be unusable?

It means that this firmware does not, nor will not ever support combination modem / routers. You will need a separate supported wi-fi router to use DD-WRT. There is no firmware file that will flash to that device and have working modem. If you are lucky, the router and wi-fi parts may work, but that is it.

There is no compatible firmware file for this model, and because this model is a combination modem/router device, it will NEVER see DD-WRT support.
