I followed the wiki instructions (I think). After I make and apply the changes, I can't access the router using the updated or the old router IP. I have unplugged the router, unplugged the ethernet cord. I then reset the router to the defaults using the reset button. I then can access the router using the old IP.
My primary router is Xfinity's Xfi. It uses a 10.0.0.x IP address system. Netgear uses 192.168.1.x.
I cannot access the router if I change my computer's IP to a static IP using the 192.168.1.x address format. Should I be using the 10.0.0.x format?
Also I do not have a manual gateway option in the Wireless, Basic Settings page.
This shouldn't be this difficult. I am sure I am missing something that will be obvious to those of you better skilled than I.

Welcome to the forum
The General Questions forum is not the right forum to ask for router help, no problem as I will transfer this thread to the appropriate Broadcom forum.
See the forum guidelines with helpful pointers about how to research your router, where and what firmware to download, where and how to post and many other helpful tips:

Could also be that your client PC is needing to have a proper static IP or set to DHCP on the appropriate interface. _________________ "The woods are lovely, dark and deep,

My router is version 1.
The files I downloaded and installed are these: dd.wrt.v24-44715_NEWD-2_Ks.x_giga-WNDR4500.chk and .bin. These are listed in the router database for my router.
I followed the wiki instructions with the exceptions noted in my first post.

I updated the firmware as reported in the posts. I followed the wiki's installation and setup instructions. I cannot access the router using either the new IP or the default IP. The firmware updated correctly.
My browser reports that neither the 192 based IP nor the 10 based IP that I changed the router to is reachable. ERR_Address_Unreachable. This after I made the changes per the wiki instructions. I can access the router before I make any changes to the firmware.
In the updated firmware there is no option for a client bridge. The only option close is a station bridge. The other options are AP, Station, Repeater, Repeater Bridge, and Ad-Hoc.
I have updated, rebooted, reset the router. I can't get anywhere. Until I reset the router, it is a paperweight.
Should the bridged router show up as a connected device in my primary router? It does not display as a connected device in my primary router. The MAC address for the ethernet card in the computer I am using to access the router does report as a connected device.
You shouldn't need to change the channels on Station Bridge mode; in the former Client Bridge / Client Bridge (Routed) modes, you could leave the channel in Auto without consequence. I don't think that has changed. But, Xfinity does seem to be quirky. _________________ "The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
